I had a day off today, so I thought continue with repairing the window, as I don't have mig welder and the arc is not going to well, I thought I'd try something different.
I cut out the rusted sections on the window, I then cut another piece of metal and placed it inside the cut and pop riveted that piece to the vehicle, I then placed the section I had cut out from the donor vehicle over the top of the metal strip and pop riveted both pieces together and then I used body filler sanded it all back and I finished up today with just painting it with rust kill primer.
I only used very small rivets right up inside the frame, I wanted to use counter sunk rivets but the hardware shop didn't have any, anyway once I put the window back in you won't see the rivets.
Ok here's the photo gallery to explain what I did
The third and forth picture there shows the metal strip in place
The next photos show how I pop riveted the new bits in place
These photos show the body filler
The next photos are with primer
Now with the primer finished and the tape removed
So tomorrow, I will rub back the primer and then spray with red paint, I purchased a couple of matching spray paint cans for all the touch ups
