Well it's been a while since I've done any real work on my truck, now it's not for not wanting to, there are 2 companies in Australia that continually let us down.

Mongrel No. 1 Australia Post, these mongrels take forever to get our mail from east to west and mongrel No.2 Greyhound Bus Service, these mongrels take even longer to get our stuff from Broome to Halls Creek, when companies have a monopoly on your delivery service they can do what they like. :bang:

Rant over, now to get on with something else:D

So today I thought I'd make up the frame for my cargo drawers, not really sure which way I wanted to go, I'd done a couple of drawers in my 80 and 100 series just with the 2 drawers, but this time I wanted something a bit different, a space for the fridge, but also a drawer underneath the fridge.

Anyhow it goes like this, I made up the frame to be 1 metre square and 300mm on the sides

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about

So the raised frame is for 1 large drawer

The next pic shows where the fridge slide will go, my fridge is 500mm wide, so needs a big area and due to the weight I reinforced the floor of the fridge

Then I painted the frame in rusteluem black

The finished product, now just gotta wait for the wood to arrive, cut that put the carpet on, build the drawers and put the aluminium strip around everything :D

 Spudman

About how much did it end up weighing? I'd like to build something similar for my 60 by the end of the summer, but I'd like to keep weight to a minimum. (im considering contacting a friend I grew up with who trained in welding when I was doing machining about helping me TIG up an aluminum one)

Hey mate

So far it's at about 22 kilos, about the same as a suitcase, with all the wood should be around 25 kilos, so should be alright, aluminium would be better, but too hard to get hold of up here :bang:

Ok everyone I NEED YOUR HELP

I am thinking of do this this to my cruiser, painting it black around the windows as shown in the pic below :hhmm:

Now don't hold back, tell me exactly what you think, Red truck painted black around the windows and the upper tail gate, I'll be using satin black. :D

Ok I'll just wait here for your replies, don't be too long

 Spudman

If your would look like a giant orange 60 with the black headband, I think it'll look sweet. I love that look. If I remember tomorrow when I get home, I'll post a pic.

Thanks Cody Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

I think it looks crap. There are too many verticle lines in the split/ sliding windows and too much black area around the corners and above and below the back window, to make this work. Takes away the elegance, all obviously IMHO. will it work in red??? dunno
elegance and 60 series??? Hymmm.

I dont know, yes or no, its your show.
maybe I have a better answer when you are finished :D

Thanks mate, honest opinion, when I look at the pic I don't know, I see something that sets of the 60 in a different light :hhmm:

Now that's tempting , what have I got to lose, so it just might be happening :D

 for the comments, Spudman

Well my gauge holder finally turned up, but I somehow stuffed up with the measurements, my gauges are 62mm in diameter and the gauge holder is 52mm, :(

So if anyone is looking for a nice gauge holder with side switch holders, let me know

That's looks very nice spudman but what I really need is the 12volts A/C compressor for my 12ht Engine I'm going to ask you if you could find me just a used but in good working condition there at your local yard and ship it to me here in HAWAII USA if you don't mind , I will send you thru paypal but dont have to be right away whenever you have time but again if its possible if not that's okey.

Hi mate
Would you know if the AC compressor is the same on the 2H engine, the reason I ask is that there are a few of them around here, but I would have to check if they are ok. 12HT's are so rare here! I have both of them and I think the bloke who is going to buy my other engine wants the compressor as well.

Thank's Spudman , You Guys there are so very fortunate to have source of Land Cruisers that we cannot get here in the States, and been following your Build for a while as well as your new Thread thanks for sharing nicely done indeed . but I'm not sure if The A/C are same as the 2h but my A/C compressor looks exactly the same as the one in the picture on page one of your Thread , and on page 3 of your New Thread picture post by ali v .

Hey mate

Thanks for the support.

I have checked out a few AC compressors and they say they fit the HJ60, HJ61 and FJ62, so I think they are the same.

Have you checked out this guy advertising on mud

for this parts .

Cheers Cruisermate

Today I screwed all the little lugs on the side of drawers frame to hold the wood in place on the sides to mount the drawers.

I also decided to drill 2X 62mm holes into a piece of 12mm ply wood, I'm gonna use this to mount my pyro and boost gauges on in the dash, a coat of satin black and looks like factory:D

 Spudman

hey spud that gauge holder you have where was it designed to fit? in the double din stereo hole with a regular sized deck? if so how much are you chasing for it?

Hi Maat

I was going to put it next to the heater on the left as I have a space there for it, on yours I think it's where you have the rear aircon, if you want it, how does $25 including postage sound
