Hi Ivan, i finally got my knuckle, seals, bearing, brakes, tie rod shocks and steering dampner done but run into a problem with the effin compresser belt! I bought em of ebay last year so probably cant get a refund, this one has the 'toothed' type and is too long, whereas the original is solid on the underside.

Anyway, i have a favour to ask ya, next time you are at the graveyard can you check to see if you can find me a radiator overlow bottle and mounting bracket for a 60 series or other, cruiser, a 45 series one would be perfect but unlikely. It is for my fj45 it has never had one and now has some coolant issues that a don't have time or money to get to, only minor, but i waste coolant everytime i top up with that anoying 90 degree filler pipe, what is the purpose of that thing anyway??

Hey Paul good to see you got most things sorted, yep those belts on eBay are hardly ever the right size.

No worries I'll have a look, it will have to be a 60 series one though, there are only two 45 series up here and owners wouldn't appreciate me stealing them as both vehicles are still running.

I found out those belts are also a John Deere part so the local dealer should be able to hook me up, at a price i'm sure!

BTW, theres a show on foxtel called 'Outback truckers' its about aussie truck drivers, not a bad show, but one bloke out in Alice goes around with a car crusher crushing and loading cars in local graveyards like yours. I am sure that would piss many locals off! Anyway, theres a Hj61 there he walks over opens the bonnet and there sits a 12ht motor with everything on it! He took it out and reckoned it was worth 10k, yeah right a good find anyway!

I spent a couple of years out at Kintore, it's right on the border of WA and NT, if it's the same bloke he's a wanker, I told him one day to take all the holders and falcons but don't touch the Toyota 4wd's, he said yep no worries, when I came back 2 days later he'd taken everything, I would have shot the barstard if I saw him again

Yeah, it stuff's up the concept of travelling and being able to source parts if needed from old bombs.

Yeah I know how you feel mate, I started doing a bit of work to it and Told me to buy a project vehicle

Since putting the new headlight harness in, my spotties decided to stop working, I initially had them wired through the high beam switch connected to the yellow and orange wire.

So I did a search on here and came up with nothing (surprised) I did a search around the net and came up with the following solution!

If it doesn't work the other way.

Splice in two wires at the original headlight plug.

"I don't know the colour of the wires but if you have a look at the plug there are two pins that run parallel to each other, splice a wire into each of these. To test you have the correct wires, put a test light across both of these wires it should light up when high beam in on only.

The 3rd wire, going by SimHilux is the Red with a Green strip, we do not use this.

For now, connect the end of these two wires to terminals 85 and 86 of your relay.

The rest of the wiring for the relay is the same as the drawing, terminal 30 has B+ via a fuse and 87 connects to the spot lights.

Check the operation of your headlights and spotlights , the spot lights should only come on with high beam and go off when low beam is on or the headlights are turned off.

If ok, disconnect the wire at pin 86 of the relay, double check the operation of your headlights.

If they are still functioning correctly run another 2 wires into the cab and connect to your spotlight switch. At the relay connect one wire to terminal 86 of the relay and the other wire connect this to the wire you previously disconnected from the relay."

Now this worked slightly different for me because I have the twin headlights, so you just plug the 2 wires mentioned into the high beam light connector.

Also as I upgraded to new wiring it was also easier for me as these old connectors are not use for the new wiring loom.

Now this worked perfectly me, if it works for you excellent.

Pretty cool! I have mine on a separate switch, but will be adding more down the road that I would like to just flop on with the High Beams!
Hows the harness working out? Where did you source the bulbs and such!

It's working very well, I've driven at night the last two nights and I am very impressed, the low beams are awesome, no yellow tinge like before.

At the moment I still have the original sealed beams, but I am hoping to upgrade soon to the semi sealed and then I can put stronger globes in. I was considering going to HID'S, but not anymore.

I did HID's with my FJ62 and a harness. The HID's were free, but the Semi Sealed reflectors were crap and I burned up an HID. I gave all that stuff away and went with a Nice sealed beam and the harness. I also had 15,000 lumens of extra lights so it wasn't needed.
I've been interested in the JW Speaker Headlamps as they are 24v and LED. Pretty sweet looking!

Hi spudman,

It wouldn't be a problem for you,but LED headlights produce little to no heat so they will ice up pretty quikly in winterweather.I'm happy with my original ones with 90/130 watt bulbs.The wiringloom can cope with the extra amp because i have 24V.

Started fitting my 3 inch exhaust today, 2 bolts came undone fairly easy from the turbo back and 1 bolt move a bit that became stuck fast No matter what we did would not move, so my mechanic mate got the oxy cutter and literally blew the bolt off, absolutely amazing, we just ran a die up the thread and it's all good.

Anyway after 5 hours we're halfway there and looking good, my welds aren't the best but they'll do and they're no holes, so that's the main thing.

Anyway hopefully will finish it tomorrow just got to put the second half at the back and also drill and weld the nut for my pyro gauge

Got my 3 inch exhaust all welded up today and sounds absolutely awesome, here's a couple of pics

Took for a drive, and it gets there so much faster, actually hit the over boost today for the first time and when you change gears you actually here the turbo spinning

Took 2 days fit but well worth it in the end.

Ordered a ports steering wheel and boss kit, as I'm going to put some Recaros in shortly, still going keep the OEM stuff in case I sell it

Picked up a Warn winch XD9000 for my cruiser today, cost me $300 second hand, tested the motor all works fine, the only thing wrong with it is one of the solenoids is stuffed, so got on good old eBay today and ordered 4X new solenoids which cost me $140 delivered, so still a good price.

Now gotta workout how to mount it to the front with the alloy bullbar.
