Amazing work. Thank you for sharing all of this.

I really want to see you drive this thing. Winter (and salt) is on the way - does that mean we all have to wait til next summer?
Maybe on some nice sunny cold and dry winter day I will drive it to the inspection and to get it registered again so I get the plates for it. The future winter storage is few hundred meters from the inspection so I could move it there at the same time. Still quite much to do so it could easily be spring before it is ready.

I started to plan on mounting the trailer hitch. I had one plate stored from some hitch. It was black an I had planned to pop rivet it on and new paint over it. But I was shocked when I found the cars original hitch.
IMG_20210922_153548.jpg

It had text on it. I sodablasted the black one and it had also text.
IMG_20210922_153301.jpg

So...
IMG_20210922_193102.jpg

I did not find where I could have a new plate made so I went with a decal.

Waiting on the decal I made the parts for the hitch support and my friend welded them together.
IMG_20210923_164306.jpg

Test fitting.
IMG_20210924_172954.jpg

Holes.
IMG_20210924_183614.jpg

And paint.
IMG_20211015_111646.jpg

When I got the decal I stuck it on a aluminium plate and riveted on its place.

IMG_20211202_182700.jpg

When painting I painted also the winch plates. I had them powder coated but after that I noticed some extra holes on them. So they had to be welded shut. I borrowed one plate from a friend and went to paint shop to get the correct color.
IMG_20211015_111334.jpg

Also some progress with the trunk carpet. It got new edges.
IMG_20211005_152840.jpg

They did not have correct color thread so I chose a light color one. I also tested a lighter shade of Color Coat on the whole carpet and it came out perfect.

IMG_20211012_161017.jpg

Also tried to fix a GX badge. I had one without gold so it was a suitable test object.
IMG_20211110_201121.jpg

I tried with gold chrome vinyl at it was ok.
IMG_20211116_194438.jpg

And test fitting just for fun.
IMG_20211116_202712.jpg

Also got a like new cigarette lighter. Needed some small touches.
IMG_20211205_173527.jpg

IMG_20211206_100301.jpg

I wanted the winch away from cold garage before winter so I lifted it on its place.
IMG_20211117_164859.jpg

Luckily all the stainless bolts came with the car. They are now NLA. Another nice detail is the plate bracket. I have not seen another one.
IMG_20211124_170221.jpg

And picture of the whole front.
IMG_20211124_171933__01.jpg

Then to the back. Nice set of new parts. I found a new right bumper and small steps. Also bumper ends are new. Color on bumpers might be wrong. Failed to figure out the correct color so I used the same as in front bumper.
IMG_20211206_134531.jpg

First the steps and brackets.
IMG_20211206_155339.jpg

Then bumpers.
IMG_20211206_155310.jpg

Hitch plate can be seen a bit still.
IMG_20211206_164547.jpg

After i got the bumpers tightened on their places I noticed that the fog lights can not be attatched with bumbers fastened. I mocked them up for some pics and they need to be mounted later.

Nope. It is a HJ60 with 2H. We have quite many of theese here in Finland. Many state owned like defence forces, border controll and other institutes. This one is rarely civil owned family car from new and allso 6 persons. Not many 6 pers. registered Cruisers left anymore either.
hey how do you like your social safty net? if you get injured doing work on your truck at least you wont have to create a go fund me page to ask for help paying for the medical bills like the us. BTW good deal on the work.

Maybe last update for this year.

Took the bumpers apart to get the fog lights fastened. I started working with the fog lights earlier this year. It started maybe 1-2 years ago when my friend bought new original fog lights from Cruiserworld. Well those had nothing original. But the lights were new. So I started googling and found universal Koito fog lights from Japan. They were for sale on some mysterious webstore that I did not succeed ordering from. Later they came available in Amazon Japan and then I bought them. When I finally got them they were exact match with the original. Same text on lenses etc.

IMG_20210119_163731.jpg

Wires were shorter so I added length with original wires and washed connectors and the tube. Removed the bracket and fastening holes matced also perfect to the original brackets.
IMG_20210130_160554.jpg

IMG_20210130_162838.jpg

Orginal lights were removed from brackets and brackets got sandblasted. Cable holder had to be made new on the other bracket. Brackets were quite ruff but with no holes. Imagine all the salt and other stuff that is collected inside the bumper and maybe never dry completly. So it was a miracle that they were not totaly rusted out as usual.
IMG_20210203_202634.jpg

Next step was new zinc coating and black powder coat. Cable holders got oem style "rubber" coating with Flex seal.
IMG_20211202_185200.jpg

Fastened the lights with screws to the brackets. I was going to use brass rivets that I bought as original have but I did not have motivation to do it so I used screws.
IMG_20211214_181057.jpg

IMG_20211214_181326.jpg

And finaly bumpers mounted again. Had to make the bolt holes in bumpers a bit oval to fith the frames. Something went wrong with printing and assembling. Maybe too much play with fittings and I did not measure positions of threaded rods when gluing all together.
IMG_20211214_190217.jpg

IMG_20211214_190248.jpg

Next step is to empty the interior from all junk so exhaust had to be put under the car instead of in the car.

IMG_20211218_121621.jpg

IMG_20211218_122758.jpg

In the last picture you can see a non oem bolt. It is there on purpose. Tow bar was mounted by the importer (and made by a Finnish manufacturer) in Finland and they used generic bolts to mount it. So I used same kind of bolts.

Next year I will start to put the interior together.

Health care is included in the taxes. So if you don't need some health care you pay it still. But when you need then you don't have to try to get the money for it. So after all it is quite good system.

Incredibly awesome!!! How long till you get to drive it?

My system costs me over $500 a month and it doesn't pay until the additional $2200 deductible is met. Great if I get cancer (until next year). Apparently, America loves insurance agents, but don't trust doctors. And phama is out to give us anything but LSD. I love my country, but the billionaires are trying their best to to make us believe they care. Not taking sides, just saying. Stopping here as not to get political.

Probably when spring comes. It is snowy, cold and awful here now. And it will be a challenge to get it out from the "garage" so it will not go back there once it is out.
sounds like perfect road conditions for a 60 :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yes it sounds just like that but not for this one :)
Except for the salt but I recall hearing that they salt the gravel roads in summer too in Finland?
Yes they do. Salt binds the dust. Mostly the roads that has houses so the people living there don´t have to eat the dust when someone drives on the road.

the entire economy is rigged against the middle class and poor. TONS of data to back it up. US still has the highest GDP but most is going to the 10% and 1% "Income inequality or Gini index". Poverty in this country is unreal! I track Americans in other countries they LOVE the job protection laws. In Germany the unions kicked Walmart out of the country could not conform to the living wage laws hahah yea!!! I love Germany they protect the middle class from predatory medical system "its charity non profit" in the country and STRONG labor laws to protect the people.

Why are you arguing social policy in someone’s build thread?

My fault, we just wish you well😊. Just hate for you not to have enough health or money to finish your dream. Personally speaking, I'm all about you being able to succeed and setting a precedent to your success. No judgement or health advice from me unless I can make you a drink. Carry on

I may however discourage or encourage you for that next obstacle depending only on your likelihood of success. 🍺

Agenda for this weekend was to put tailgates and side windows in place.

I did the refurbishing for tail gate parts couple years ago. First the upper tail gate stopper. I sanded off the end of the rivet so I could disassemble it.
IMG_20191124_133645.jpg

Then tapped it with M3 thread for a screw to get it assembled.
IMG_20191216_195437.jpg

IMG_20191216_195443.jpg

Not so much to do for the lower tail gate stopper. The "nipple" of this rubber broke off when pulling it back in the hole. Locktite saved the day and it held after glueing.
IMG_20220217_104710.jpg

When I dig out the upper hatch and unwrapped it from bubblewrap I noticed that there were holes for spraying rust prevention.
IMG_20211229_080540.jpg

And some dents.
IMG_20211229_155640.jpg

I got the holes welded shut and dents pulled out. Found also smaller dents. So some filler needed and paint.
IMG_20220204_205637.jpg

IMG_20220205_155537.jpg

Dents and holes gone.
IMG_20220205_155459.jpg

IMG_20220205_155516.jpg

And when I unwrapped the lower part...
IMG_20220208_170724.jpg

It needed a bit more bondo.

Cut some new padding for hinges.
IMG_20220106_113929.jpg

IMG_20220106_114001.jpg

Cleaned cables and grommets.
IMG_20211216_120407.jpg

And all mentioned above assembled.
