The first thing that comes to my mind when I see this is the super tight clearances. Won't the first really big hit on this bumper send it into the body and the land of 'forever rattling'?

But I do agree with the others, it's sexy. I need to learn how to weld.

I will be at GSMTR 07 as well, les wheel!

My mini truck is ready to roll now. Its just a hell of a long way to texas! Can you come up here for new years day wheeling in wellsville ohio? Seriously I plan on having this truck ready 100% for GSMTR 07. I plan to hit a bunch of events this coming summer.

In the world of hardcore who cares if it rattles. I have a v8 to cover this noise and provide the sweet grumble. Seriously this bumper project and for most instances my whole rig does not make sense for DD or street use. My sliders rattle like hell on the road but they provide 1.5" clearance more than others I have checked out.

Performance first is my objective.

So this bumper is tied in to the body, not the frame?

you'll be keeping these upward horns going that high?

Yeah, I can see where you are coming from Kirk. We just have two different uses for our crusiers. Mine is completely a DD, and every mod I make to it HAS to be with that function formest above all others. You have the very nice luxury of a sweet trail rig.

That's basically the main reason I decided on the ARB over the slee or other low profile designs. In my area, deer strikes are not uncommon, and I want that protection... DD dutes again.

The only point the bumper is fastened to the body is through the factory rear body mounts.

Yes they will change slightly. They are a start of a HD taillight guard. There are many pcs not shown yet. I am still finishing the bumper wings.
The pic you see with the pipe sticking through is a template for the real wing plate to be laser cut from.

Looks great, My only advice would be to seriously consider some kind of outrigger or step bar jsut ahead of where you have the exhaust pipe routed, You will come down on that corner, and with your tolerances that will shove the whole thing up into the 1/4 panel.

Already on this, Benos pictures are ahead of my plan. There will be a vertical plate that will go all the way to the wheel well. I will pick the truck up from the wing with my bobcat and post some shots.

thanks

Kirk

the tolerances between the wings on my bumper and the 1/4 pannels are less than a pinky tip in most places. same goes with front bumper. neither has ever rubbed the body even with the ds front tire and pass side rear tire floating in the air while in cracks. remember that the bumpers are almost on the same horizonatl plane as the body mounts and that the bumpers dont run the length of the truck like sliders. as long as the bumpers are bolted/welded tight to frame, and the body mounts are good, the bumpers shouldn't need to be held to the looser standards of sliders.

But Dusty, as stated above, one little smack and the metal is bent into the panel. perfect example is my last wheelin' trip. Hit the corner of my ARB on a rock, just a little, and it folded into the body. Not enough to dent the body, but it did bend the ARB.

Either way, what do i know........ i know it looks bad a$$

My ARB gets bent on every wheeling adventure. I use a c-clamp and my bobcat to tweak it into stock form. Gotta pay to play...
