I put a drop of grease on the rod side and do not over tighten screw.

I can't see anything you're showing, and I don't see you on ebay...can you share a link?

reviving an old thread here. does anyone know how long the piece of foam is that goes around the core? i found a decent price on a sheet of foam on amazon but don’t know that it’ll be long enough. i don’t have my heater core out to measure it either and don’t want to take it apart until i have everything to rebuild it!!

@Aloha Jen just restored a heater, she might have some input.

Measure the depth and width of the heater box while in place and x2 gives you the length you need

Here are the measurements for the core. Mine only had foam on top and on the sides.

Mine is from a 1975 Fj40, not sure if there were different sizes for different years.

Are the nylon bushes for the linkage available or do they have to be custom made?
Looking at rebuilding a few heater boxes and one has worn bushes.
Thanks
I've searched around and they're not readily available and not a standard size. I've had some custom made (CNC
machined from nylon) and got some extras made up if you are interested in a few sets. I'm in Australia as well

@JJG40 What model heater are the bushes made for?
They definitely used them on ‘75-78 Fj40 heaters, those are the two model years I have. They are unusual shapes as well as you can see in the lower corner of my photo.
