Wanted to share some pictures from my first visit to Harlan KY. We met up with a couple of the FJ Cruiser Trail Team members for a tour of the park. It was a perfect fall day for wheel'n and a great group to wheel with. We had everyone from first timers to the very experienced.

We were lucky enough to have as our tour leader George of Grace 4X4 in his built FJ-80 and a couple of his buddies. We had a great time with good buddies and made some new friends. You can see the rest of my pics on my photobucket page, look for the "Harlan Nov 3-4" album.

That is an awesome looking place.............. looks like some challenging terrian!!! how long of a trip was that from cary??? Maybe it could warrant a club outing there.

thanks for sharing

Trollhole - thanks for the compliment, its all the camera, really...

ClemsonCruiser - It really is a nice place. We only saw maybe 1/3 of the whole area and there were many sections that were rated above what the we could do. Specifically, Lion's Den is a crazy rockbed section.

It took me under 6 hours to get there from Cary. It is just across the border from Virginia into KY. We took 77 up to 81 then 221/58 west to Harlan. The park is actually in Everts KY, great small town that is totally off-road friendly. I would definitely go back because I know there is so much more to explore...

Great pics, thanks for posting. Looks like a great time.

I especially like that last pic, looks like a cool little town.

That is the town of Everts at the entrance of the ORV area and is a very off-road friendly town. We ate at the Corner Cafe twice and you could see quads and 4-wheelers driving by the windows all day...

whoof...I hate to think 5.5 hours of driving to wheel would be worth a long weekend...week? maybe!

Great Pics. I need to get up there. Trails look like they could be lots of fun. One of my wealthiest clients down here owns that land (and much of the surrounding land) and leases it back to the state for off-roading. Said her dad built the trails long ago. They have bragged about it to me for years and have begged me to come up. Even offered me a place to stay. I told her about the pics today when I met her at a jobsite and she again insisted I come up. Someday.........

Bennetts?

As Dan backpeddles... :flipoff2: Looks nice, and I think seeing more of that Country would be worth the drive from Florida. I'm driving 5 hours tomorrow to wheel Saturday a.m. with Al and crew in North Central Florida - rocks pits - sometimes you just have to drive.
