Going to hit the garage Saturday and try to get the rear 4 link in place. Anyone know truly how much work dropping the fuel tank will add? It would allow me to get an annoying weld done...

Also - is there a replacement muffler that's much smaller but bolts up to the flanges? I like buy vs build, believe it or not

Geometry and links done. Time to cut the body, evaluate how far I need to français the coilovers into the frame, weld the truss etc. Bump stops and limit straps as well

You have the skid over/tank combo. Once you loosen the strap the tank will drop with the skid. You'll want to support the tank and skid at the same time. Not as hard as it sounds, the tank will cradle into the skid. It will give you some play but to get it further out of the way you'll need to disconnect the filler, lines, etc.

If you need to go the later, wet a towel and put over the filler opening at the tank.. The vapors are the nasty part when welding around a tank. The wet towel will help keep them at bay.

Be safe.

Scott had it a bit easier .... he had a hole the size of the floor jack eaten through his skid... Supporting the tank was easy for him... :wtf:

Pulled axle back out the other night to turn tacks into welds. Ordered bump stops and coilovers

@ExpoMax are you still welding with a caulking gun?

What's with gappy McGap between the upper mount and truss?

Lol it will get boxed in. I had to get a little bit of height out of the mount but needed them angled down to prevent the link from colliding with the mount itself at full stuff.

Good eye.

Got a half day today in. Welded reinforcements for the link mounts since it's easy to get to right now.

Next is to get my monuments established for suspension to conform to. Cut the rear fenders and did a lot of hammering and trimming and grinding and test fitting. I hate body work more than nearly anything. Should have 5.5" of uptravel which is marginally exciting. What are you gonna do? She's a fat girl that's for sure. Surprised these tires barely stick out. I saved a lot of the inner fender so hopefully I can tack it back together better than marshmallow. Not like it's long for this world anyway - that rear ac unit is gonna have a rough day in the future. For now it still fits.

Oh and the frame modifications to accommodate the coilovers will be very interesting. Barely any room :(

I saw this on IG, youre Fawesome!

(Lazer cut 3/8” steel)Ive got a 1-3uz oil pan flange i was saving for a rainy dayif you need it to facilitate anything up front, just say the word👍🏻

I had a bunch made for dudes on pirate when 1uz swaps were getting kinda popular in minitrucks(and i had one in a 4runner)...its a DIY piece you build a new pan off to suite your links and up travel clearance needs. if you still have my # text me and ill send some pics if it might help in any way or ends up collecting dust on a garage shelf, its all good. It collects dust here and likely always will.

Local kid used one for a 3 linked 2uz 4runner i could find him and get some pics for you(though you seem to sort things out and fit them in the tightest confines with success anyhow). Maybe the ujz pan is already a rear sump, etc??

Regardless, freaking sweet ass build!!

I managed to navigate the oil pan (I think) for now, but just barely. PM me your number anyway - I could use your consultation on some other stuff on this build...

Thanks man!

By the way it sounds badass without the muffler(s). Still need to get a smaller replacement that bolts up if possible.
I replaced my giant stock muffler with a direct-fit Walker off of Amazon. Bolts to the factory front exhaust. Gave me a couple extra inches all around it.

Does it hang below the frame rails at all?
