Maybe you and Chase can make an order together ans save on shipping or we can figure out other logistics, like a meet up or trail run together. Of course... bumper installs first... ;)

I know the perfect trail... haha

Yeah, definitely. That would be great.

Does this look good to anyone? Readings from Idling in an 80 degree garage.

A giant box showed up today: :nailbiting:

Some seriously beautiful welds and craftsmanship. Thank you @reevesci

Can't wait to put these on! Can't decide on color, suggestions?

Thanks Chase, glad you are happy with them.

I have to say that I like my light colored sliders on my 100 (trim matched- sage pearl). They always look clean and are different than everyone else.

J
Yeah, I was thinking maybe the same color as the roof rack since the 60 doesn't really have trim like the 100 (that would have made it easier :) ). hmmmmmm decisions.

This beauty went on recently. Courtesy of @beno before they were NLA. Almost too nice to use, but its a land cruiser after all. Meant to be used, not looked at. :)

What are all those white symbols and writing doing on those stalks?!

Had some weird shifting issues during the last drive. The kick down cable was very loose and the tranny was shifting VERY late, like at 3500rpms. Made driving through town a fun experience. Talk about loud.
Upon further inspection the cable was frozen and the housing was broken! No wonder I couldn't adjust it!

Cable rusted tight with the housing

Luckily I had a new cable on reserve as I could see the writing on the wall from all the MUD postings. Definitely don't want to do that job again, but its in and everything works great!
I also learned a valuable lesson on how sensitive the tranny is to low fluid...Couldn't figure out why it was shifting so poorly after the cable replacement... oh wait I was still 3 quarts low! :slap: Live and learn. Happy its working well now! Drove about 50miles today and it ran smooth.
Now what is next on the list?

Next? Found out where the transmission fluid is going.
Unfortunately @Kleatus is correct. I was in kind of a rush this morning and a bit of a bone head I guess and I didn't refill the tranny enough. :p shifted great after I put more fluid in. Hahaha

Kept having a high idle issue (around 800-900) and today I had some time to fiddle around with the TPS. Sure enough it was definitely out of adjustment. I couldn't get the current one to give me a good reading so I swapped on a new one and adjusted it according to the FSM. Have a nice idle around 600 now. :)

Next on the list is to address possible fuel issues. Getting the big "woosh" when I take the cap off so I have the VC120 canister from autozone to swap in. Also, thanks to the help of @Kleatus, I have parts on the way to test the fuel pressure regulator as I am getting hard starts after the cruiser sits for a while.

After the major cooling system refresh, the one component I trusted and didn't replace was the radiator..... well yesterday it decided to give me the middle finger and start leaking at the top tank braze seam:

After a camping trip this weekend, its getting yanked back out for repair. I should have trusted my OCD and just had it checked while it was out before. :slap:

The rear bench seat I cleaned up over a year ago is finally back in. The now nastier looking door cards are next on the list.

I really regret not installing the vinyl flooring this summer. Would have looked so nice to have it all done.

Great work Chase, looking forward to checking it out tomorrow.

Got a chance to finally take Blue Guy off road for the first time in years. Had a crazy and fun time, full and great write up here:FitzJ60 1983 FJ60 Build

Happy to report that the cruiser didn't skip a beat. Powered up the trail like a fat agile goat. The 3FE lived up to the task :)

Some extra photos from the trip
A smooth part of the road:

Found this old photo of the nut jobs in the back of the cruiser. Sure do miss these boys. The cruiser will never be the same without them.

Despite the cold weather, I am pressing forward with installing the rear cargo area vinyl flooring. Purchased this great kit from @reevesci too long ago and its been boxed the whole time. That meant there were going to be a lot of creases.

However, I hung up the vinyl on some hall closet doors and used a garment steamer to relax the vinyl and it worked amazingly well!!

Going to install in the next couple days. The front section vinyl flooring might have to wait until next year but the steamer does work very well. :hmm:

Nice cold and rainy day to cut and install the rear vinyl..... (at least it was already flat as the vinyl was stiff and hard to cut). Definitely a project for a hot day.
Huge thanks to @NookShneer for lending me his old rear carpet as a template.:beer: Mine was too far gone to be a reliable pattern. Tracing tip: use a white eyeliner pencil. The eyeliner is sticky and doesn't rub off easy and you can sharpen it to a fine point.

Still need to do some fine trimming and find some stainless trim screws for the seat and tail gate trim (anyone have a source?).
Looking good, thanks @reevesci for sourcing and importing the kit. :)

Front sections will have to wait until summer. Wheel well pieces will go in soon though.

Changed the oil as well. Used Rotella T4. Large oil filter looks right at home. Thanks @beno
