NEXT up...Heater..

Read and read last night and re-read PMs and posts.. Thanks for all the input... So, I decided to just pinch off the heater hoses and try and flush the core.. Water flowed pretty well so, I added some CLR just to make for sure I was getting everything I could. I didn't really see anything that threw up a flagfor concern.

Hooked the hoses back up, jacked the front up, ran the engine to 180F, AND ADDED ALMOST 2.5 GALLONS OF COOLANT..WTF.. It was at the filler neck last night.. So, either the 4BT had one HELL of a bubble or something broke loose during the flush.. I know I lost some coolant from the heater core flush, BUT NOT THAT MUCH!

Anyhow, topped it off and went for a drive. Heater warmed up pretty fair without the cardboard. Added the cardboard and it got pretty toasty inside. Ran Goss hard and never got over 220F on the gauge.

Played a little up at 13 mile hill and came home.. BEER THIRTY!

Good spot for the vent! I'm going to have to do that.

I'll keep it there to vent my 38 gallon long range tank that should be here next week. May add a second or a larger hose with a screen on it as well.

You know your truck is tall when.... Step ladder haha

Glad you got some things resolved!

I took a little quiz the other day. "What state do you actually belong in" I got Wyoming lol

OK... Today's projects started off with replacing the block heater. I started here because I knew I was going to end up beating my head against the rig as a stress relief.... WHAT A PITA... When I strip the body panels and fenders... The block heater is being moved to the other side where it can be accessed more easily.. Good thing the :princess: has small hands and is a trooper about helping on occasion!

Replaced both the element and cord. New one doesn't trip the GFCI or a standard circuit like the old one... But, I can't find a single thing visually that could be an issue on the old one. :meh: Oh well...

J

J that is a tight fit. My block heater is forward of yours, and even then I have trouble putting the cord in correctly.
Mine also took a ton of coolant when I replaced the radiator, so that's normal.

Seeing that army green fj in the driveway brings back memories of mine. Must get another again ....alongside the 60!!

I'm 6'3" and I broke out the ladder.. Wyoming is a great DESOLATE state. If you like people... Don't come here...

HA!

If I had replaced the radiator I wouldn't have thought twice about the amount of coolant it took. But to just flush out the heater core... Seemed like a lot...

The FJC is fun and it will get you into trouble quickly... HA! It's my back up.. back up ... back up cruiser at the moment. :meh:

Looking good J :D

Even during our coldest months here, it's still too hot to put the heater on, lucky the aircon works well :grinpimp:

That's a mighty awesome backup!

Yep it is.. :grinpimp:

Ya we get some wicked cold days here. -24F a few days ago..

****, it took that much coolant? That's awesome :D Once again, beautiful truck J!

Thanks Johnny, I figured I might have lost MAYBE?? a gallon during the flush, but not 2.5 gallons. It must've had a block and/or one hellacious air bubble.. :meh:

Thanks guys,

Need to get the 7100s figured out and ordered. So I ran over to my friends shop at lunch to flex out the suspension on Goss.. He has a forklift and he wanted me to look at his 40 for some future armor mod work.

I will be adding a AAL or heavy + springs to the front of Goss. The new winch will add 76#s and then the second battery as well..

Anyhow, not to shabby for the modified SUA, IMO...:grinpimp:

His 40 is pretty slick too. I'm the only 60's freak around, but 12-FJ40 owners in town and a plethora of 80, 100 and FJCs. Need to start that Western WY cruiser club.. :flipoff2:

Anyhow here ya go.

And one more fun fun... HA!

Looks like 275/78 or 360/75 valving and 12" travel 7100s should do the trick.

My flex measurements:
Front 19.75" stuffed and 28.75" extended
Rear 21.5" stuffed and 30.25" extended

7100 range is:
Collapsed 19.61"
Extended 31.34"

Once I add a leaf or go heavies this will stiffen the front slightly. I'm at the bottom out range on the front and close to the long end range on the rears as it sits now. I doubt I will ever flex it that much, knowing me and my driving habits.... :meh:

I think someone is off work this week with all these posts :)

btw, I love those pics out in no mans land, a little envious needless to say....

ugh, every time you mention your pad, I cringe at what you have to do. what a real pain in the rear.

enjoy your time off, you deserve it.

You know A and I hate neighbors.... HA! Wyoming is the largest land mass state with the fewest number of people in the US. :grinpimp:

NO state tax, NO car inspections, NO emissions... and we still get the good car oils and high VOC paints, etc... It'll be hard to move if we ever decide where we want to go..
