Good setup: 35s, 4" lift, 4.88?

@CYKBC this. you'll read things like driveline vibration problems in threads about 4" lifts. Bigger is obviously better, but it gets more complicated.

anything over 2 inch and you will have to address driveline vibes, when I went from 2 to 3 I had to get a front dc shaft and rear lca's.....

What I'm learning from my ih8 experience thus far is that there's so much conflicting info it's hard to nail down who's worth their salt against those that simply know just enough to be dangerous. Just like real life.

I've made my decision. Thanks again, all!

the only thing I will add is that for me I think 4 inches is a bit too tall for 35's, I have a 3 inch and it is perfect but I want to make sure my truck stays comfortable on long on highway road trips......
You can DD a truck on 4” lift and 37’s. I drive appox 25-30k a year with multiple quarterly 1k+ trips for work. Sure I could get a rental or buy a Camry, but why? Driving my beast makes me happy. At the end of the day, it’s about smiles per mile, not mile per gallon.

I don't disagree with you, you "can" do alot of things, it all chalks up to personal preference really. For me, keeping it under 3 inches lift and 315's gives me enough off road capability while still keeping the truck for me road comfortable.

I was going to say the same thing. I fall into the latter of those two types of people on here.

Anyway, let us know what you end up going with.

Opinions vary and so do 80's, meaning that result do vary with in a range. That is why you read different things from one post to another. The bottom line is, what I posted yesterday; don't rush this, do a lot of research, test drive other peoples rigs if possible. In four years, I have had 4 different sets of springs on my rig as offerings have evolved and my quest for something "better" continued.

There is no such thing as absolute or cut and dry with regards to this subject and the fact that you made the above statement shows that you have not done anywhere near enough research and info gathering on your own, rather you simply want someone to give you the answer which exist's only in your head.

This isn’t my first rodeo.

Absolutely. I owe it back to the community.

I see a ton of threads that ask, but the op never ends up returning results. I won’t be one of these dudes. Thank you.

@Box Rocket

Your truck is beastly! Would run over all the Beverly Hills g-amgs in your 80. Mind sharing the exact specs on those wheels and tires? These look way too aggressive to be 3", 315s. Gotta be at least a 4" lift right? Awesome man. Chin scratch could I LA daily a truck with Box Rocket's setup...

One other thing, have you considered any restricted height parking spots you won’t get into with 35s and a 4” lift?

It's one of the first things I thought about. 2.5" lift is it for me. It's my fourth lifted truck. Glad to have that problem again.

About what height would a lifted 80 be at with 35s and 2.5?

should be just under or close to 2.1m. i haven't actually put a tape measure up to it but mine doesn't hit those carpark entries.

Page one of this thread box rocket states slinky stage 4 3" lift and 315s, but pay close attention to pics you chose as hes had a few setups and several sets of tires. That pic you posted is older than current ...... but looks like 3" and 315s to me. Think thats a 2.5" rancho and 315 mickey Thompson combo but he can confirm.

Remember armor weight affect stance too. I have 4" springs and net 3" over stock after bumpers/skid/sliders/drawers but they have 100k miles now too.

I'm in love with that rear shot and it's so weird how sometimes 315s look super wide like that one and in others they look kinda skinny.

By and large, I've been reading everything - I hunger for as much detail as possible. If wheels then brand, model, diameter, width, backspacing, offset, who will accept my Chase VISA card or PayPal or benjamins. If tires, same deal. I suspected he switched things up, thus the specific pic and the question.

Definitely would've been insane for me to go for a 4" lift. It would end up being 5" on my rig.

Would these fit? I cannot find anywhere on procompusa.com, amazon.com, google.com the Pro Comp Series 51 in 16x8s with a high negative offset that 2Kcruiser runs in the youtube vid. Can't find even his 97 series.

The 16x8 has 4.25" BS. I think most people run 8" wheels with 315's. Either set will fit with 35's, even at zero inches of lift. Wheels - 16 in. Wheel Diameter - 6 x 5 1/2 in. Wheel Bolt Pattern (app) - pro-comp-51

The main thing I want is the high negative offset. I know many are tired of seeing this truck again and again, but the deep dish is the look I want. Neither one of those have enough negative offset. The ones I posted are -38 and -44 assuming 4wheel has their online sh1 together.

Also want this amount of poke out of fender.

@2KCruiser do you have wheel specs on that set?

Those pro comp wheels have the most offset available as far as I know, other than custom wheels. I had a set of recentered hummer wheels that were 3.5" backspacing. Not a street friendly option though, and they ate wheel bearings for breakfast. Any time the offset pushes past center (negative) you are going to eat bearings and the handling gets weird offroad. Maybe search Hawaii? They love those deep dish wheels, they have to get them somewhere.

You could definitely daily drive a truck like mine. Mine has been a daily driver and works great! First of all the suspension makes daily driving simple and comfortable. The Slinky kits are so good offroad it's a given that they will also work well on the road. This photo is from the Southwest Adventure 2017 trip with the Stage4 Slinky kit that had been installed the morning this photo was taken. It's a 3" lift, no extra height. Tires are definitely 315/75 R16. However, these tires (mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC) have large corner blocks and side lugs and look wider than the MTR or STT Pro tires I've also had in the same size. Wheels are 16x8 Stealth Custom Series SR8's.

For daily driving, an aggressive tire isn't going to be as quiet or smooth as a road tire, but otherwise I love daily driving the truck. Drove it again today for my 60+ mile commute.

If you're ever in SLC before you decide what to do (or after) you're welcome to take my truck for a drive and see what you think.
