Nice work Gary, it reminds me i really need to look inside my doors and check the drain holes at the bottom. I've had a set of new aftermarket front door and rear barn door seals sitting under my bench since the end of 2010!
I bought them from "All Four x 4 Spares" on ebay for around $200 all up. My seals are cactus so I really should fit them up one day.....

Thanks Dan, I've noticed them for sale on ebay but I see so many posts advising against the use of aftermarket seals. If you get to put them on I'd appreciate knowing how you find them - they are reasonably priced. I'll probably do a frame-off on my truck in a few years so I'm not going to put OEM rubbers on now - the aftermarket rubbers might just do me until then - the door rattles and the wind are a bit distracting.

I used the 3M Rust Proof Cavity Wax - 3Mâ„¢ Inner Cavity Wax - Amber: Marine Supplies Catalogue: 3M United Kingdom (English) - sorry I did not get a photo of it, but it leaves an amber brown coating on the metal. It dripped out of the drain holes for a few hours afterwards before drying out.

ı am a fun of lc from turkey. ı buy an fj40 with a 3b engine mounted on it on 2002. ı am thinking to restore it and do many of changes about color, exterior and interior. interior ı really want to to use retractable seat belt system just like yours. ı am thinking completely change all the belts and buckles.. can you please tell me the part number of your seat belts by part by part.. or could you help me to find the seat belt system. best regards

Hi mate,
Best place for part numbers would be toyodiy.com - they list the numbers for both front and rear - look under the body/seatbelt section. You could use aftermarket belts, and the common vendors CCOT and SOR both list them for sale. You could try the classifieds or ebay - they pop-up occasionally.

Alternatively, try a wrecker in your neck of the woods - the belts can always be re-stitched or made if you have the mechanism. I think what you will struggle with is the brackets that the belt mechanisms bolt onto in the rear.

I brought a heap of genuine toyota landcruiser workshop manuals from a young guy selling his late grandfather stuff. There's also a parts catalog so if your chasing any part numbers this suits all cruisers below.

The four panels, two on each side numbered/named together, as follows for my RHD LX:

1. 62511 BOARD, QUARTER INSIDE TRIM, RH
62521‑90803 FR
62644‑90801 RR, W/O FORWARD FACING REAR SEAT
62644‑90804 RR, W/FORWARD FACING REAR SEAT
2. 62512 BOARD, QUARTER INSIDE TRIM, LH
62522‑90803 FR
62645‑90801 RR, W/O FORWARD FACING REAR SEAT
62645‑90804 RR, W/FORWARD FACING REAR SEAT

I have also looked for new panels but without any success. Your best bet is to find a wrecker (or someone who is converting an LX to a top-less beach buggy ). I have seen them on ebay twice in the past few years.

I was lucky - very lucky - to locate a used set from a wrecker. I wanted a few bits out the back but the wrecker would only sell the stuff as a set. I've got them safely packed away for when I find another LX.

I think when i manage to find a set, i'll make a fiberglass mold and make a few.
Planning on throwing a rear drawers in the back of my LX then making the arm rest hole flush on the copy.

PS. love your BJ42! I have to admit i'm slightly envious how tidy yours is

I had the same set and color of panels , mine didn't have the rear seat belt hole molded in as it had jump seats. I figured I was never putting my hard top back on the vehicle (summer use only) so I threw all the panels away lol

I picked up this Australia sales brochure a while back, circa 1984. It is a six-page fold-out and has the dealer quote written in pen. If I had $16k and a time-machine......Enjoy.

Hi mate, you are most welcome. I'm really not sure about the date for the chrome wheels - I've only seen a few originals and they have all been 1984 with chrome. Would be interesting to get some confirmation - I guess they may have upped the specs at the end of production to help with the run-out sales.

Awesome, only an extra $291 for an LX shorty! That was obviously quite a bit of money back in the day, but now it seems sooo cheap!
