Plates are on...

Finally got the plates installed...hardly a noteworthy technical challenge I know :grinpimp: And judging from how well the flash pics up the numbers I am going to have to be so careful about slowing down for fixed-speed cameras now :steer: yeah right with a 30 yr old 3B diesel...

Stroke of genius Meneer!

Gary

would you be willing to take some shots of the backside of those rims. I am wanting to find those factory LX splits and wanted to see how the ring is on those. I had the generic style and sold them (kicking myself in the butt)

thanks
Rob

I regret selling my LX- even though it is in good hands. I sold my LX split rims but they were the standard type and not the chrome. I do see where the chrome were the standard on the LX in this brochure.

Gary that is a great looking LX mate and I am jealous. Puts mine to shame. Where abouts in Bris Veags are you. Grew up down that way in Sunnybank. I dont mean to be rude but how much did you pay for her. Ohhhhhhhhhh and welcome to MUD.

do you have pics of the mud flaps brackets and where they are mounted? I am still in need of the armrest that mounts to the wall of the top and center seat belt if you ever find another one please let me know, those are the only missing pieces to mine

I'm interested too..

So you reckon those chrome rims are really split-rims with the rings hidden on the inside Rob? (If so, it must be damned hard to control rust on them .... especially around the rings.)

Cmon Gary .... Where've you got to mate? You've got important Land Cruiser questions to answer here! (I hope you're not allowing mundane things like work and family to interfere in your Land Cruiser obsession. :D)

Ive seen them before and the ring is definitely on backside and i do believe they are prone to rust issues.....but not if one was to think outside the box like yourself and have them galvanized :)

Hi Tom, thank goodness for you and Roberto for dragging me back into the mud :) Just upgraded my lapsed silver star membership...money well spent though...man I've been gone too long.

Here are pics of the rims...definitely not splits. The date stamps on mine vary either 84/1 or 84/2, which I guess would be about right considering her birthdate is 84/3.

Haha, hey Ken thanks.... I do like my little wagon ;-) and I'm on the north side of BNE so feel free to say g'day if you're down this way!

I paid more than I thought I wanted to, being new to 40's and all, but four years down the track I am so glad I searched and waited for the right truck, I'd pay that money again in a heartbeat and feel like I was robbing the seller and starving his kids....

Hey Rob, I've got some pics of mud flaps on another BJ42 LX which I think were fitted at time of original purchase, I'll dig them out and post in the next days... I'll keep my eyes open for ya on those other pieces but I wouldn't hold my breath, they don't show up too often... :(

Good to see you're still alive and kicking Gary.

Until I see pics of OEM chromed splitrims I think I'll adopt the stance that they don't exist and never have existed.

(Trouble is .... I have a vague recollection of seeing some rims somewhere with the rings mounted on the inside as Roberto suggests.)

Errr...

Well I was about to post what I've written above and then decided to Google search....

And I found two sets of these chrome splitrims for sale on Gumtree right now as we speak (so I have to eat my words now):

These pics come from two different sellers but in the second one I think I can see the rings on the rear faces of the rims....

:D

And comparing to yours Garry (which are not split but look very similar):

You can see the difference where the shraeder valves on the tubes exit the rims...

Tah ks Gary and Tom. Yes i contacted three sellers on ebay aus that have these chrome and white split rims for sale. Problem is they only wanted like $350 for a chrome set of five rims but quoted me like $2000 to ship to me so i had to pass unfortunatley :(((

Hey All who are involved in this post. I have an 83 LX on the road and an 84 LX with bad rust (donor parts) neither of my vehicles have a bracket for the jack, as I understand the Jack was mounted under the rear bench seat. If anyone has one or knows the part number please let me know.

Thanks heaps

So you have this setup (or should have)?.... Circled in red

Odd that I can't find a separate jack holder part (or part number) for the LX.. Perhaps somehow it uses the same holder as the rest of us, but just mounted sideways?

Just like Tom I have been unable to find a part number... but here are a couple of pics of what it looks like (before the big cleanup):
