If it is so simple to drive this thing for "free" then why in the world would he want to sell it? Mechanic checked it out and the A/C only needs to be recharged but he didn't have the mechanic recharge it? Huh?

Sounds like someone's worst nightmare and he will be very, very happy if it becomes your worst nightmare for a paltry $5k.
