Xprite installed on one side. I have used it since Tuesday the 9th, and so far the beam is perfect. The only problem is that it doesn't exactly fit in the headlight bucket, but some convincing makes it happen.

As someone else mentioned around here, Im thinking of going the route of purchasing 4 sealed beam replacement housings and then purchasing 4 LED bulbs of your choice......

United Pacific Conversion Headlights 31390

I could hardly see at night with some crap sealed beam set up, but then I got SLC's harness and Cibie Low/High with Osram 70/65W H4 bulb and Hella High beams with Narva H1 +50 bulb from Daniel Stern, it all changed. So bright, any aux lights would be ridiculous. So bright the reflection from signs on the side of the road are almost too bright, though that may be a pointing issue. Cibie, perfect fit, excellent cut off, with a little tail up off to the right to light aforementioned signs.

LED in sealed beam housings give off horrible light pattern. I tried a few different varieties but they all blinded oncoming traffic.
Did you happen to try any Hella housings?

This is very true. Horrible.

I ran Amazon Start LED bulbs and Hella Housings. Plenty of light but not in any good pattern.

I'm very happy with the same Hella Housings, ARB wiring harness and 80/100 bulbs.

I just installed the Susquehanna Motorsports harness in my 62 last night and I'm VERY pleased with the results. I was intimidated by it at first because I couldn't figure out how I was going to tap in to the existing harness/switch, but once I realized that I was literally plugging the new harness directly (gray cable at the top of the harness pic) into the connector where the low-beam bulb would plug in to the stock harness, it all made sense... too easy.

Susquehanna supplied the harness

as well as the headlamps and bulbs.

They were very responsive and knew their stuff. I would call them and consult with them about exactly what you need before making an order. I'm a measure thrice, cut once kind of guy though, so that's just me.

How would you say these compare to the JWSpeaker headlights? I've been considering a pair of their 8800 assemblies to put in place of my outboards, if the tax return allows for it.

I bought slcfj62's wiring upgrade kit and got some cheap ecode h4 main housings for my fj62. Left the stock sealed beam highs in place. Easy install that didn't require any modifications to the stock wiring. Just basically set it aside and ran the new wiring. made a nice bit of difference. Couldn't afford the hella units at the time. This was like 7 years ago so my memory is a bit foggy on the details.

This is a very intriguing option. $125 for all for eyes? Compared to the cost of a total halogen upgrade, harness $150, housings $250-350 + bulbs or even compared to JW evo's at $280 a pop this is worth the gamble. Am I correct in assuming that a new headlight harness harness (minus some minor socket wiring) would be unnecessary? Judging by the color of the stock lights it doesn't look like this rig has one. I like the idea of DRL as well. That would be a simple circuit to wire up.

Right, Like this.
Truck Lite LED Knock Offs AND headlight polarity reversal

What is the purpose of the red warning "sunrise" on the xprites? cool factor or do the actually serve a purpose?

Just brainstorming here but i'm betting a pair of these hi/lo in the outer bucket would give great light coverage leaving the inner bucket open for something like yellow fog lights? or.... I mean were really leaving the "stock look" here, why not?

I did install the 4x Xprite's according to the diagram here: Instructions for LED Headlight upgrade so that I've got 4 low beams, and 4 high beams. While the Xprite LEDs are an improvement over the old halogen headlights, I'm not super impressed with them. They are bright, but have a very short throw and the high beams don't really light up much more than the low beams. The hard part was building the harness though, so maybe someone else will come out with some nicer 4x6 Hi/Lo LEDs that don't break the bank. Swapping out headlights (now that I drilled out all the old rusty screws in the headlight buckets) is the easy part.

Anything is an improvement over the halogens, did you have a hard time putting the xprite lenses into the existing headlight cage?

I kinda had to "stuff" them in there, but they fit without having to cut anything. I had to hold the headlights in just the right position while tightening the cage down. Also, two of the headlights are already foggy on the inside. But like you said, anything is an improvement over the halogens. For the moment, I'm happy.
