Looking very very bright on low setting. USA street legal lumen output on low setting?

Usa legal? I've no idea, the lights say DOT SAE on them but I doubt that makes them legal.

They are however, very bright. I'll try and get the high function working today.

Ok i searched a little bit but ultimately, I'm a hands on kinda guy. Put me in front of a problem and ill get down to the dirty little culprit.

This Toyota switched ground thing, nothing hard to understand, but "at the end of the day" a switch is a switch. All it does is close some contacts allowing whatever polarity of electricity to flow.

Today I'm going to show you how to rewire your Toyota headlights back to SWITCHED POSITIVE!

With ONE WIRE.

Under your steering wheel (remove clam shell) is a blue connector for all your steering column functions. In the middle of the large connector you will find a thick white wire with a black stripe. This is the supply wire for your high and low beam headlight switch.

De pin this wire here (or go further into the harness if you don't want to re wire here) and hook up a positive wire from fuse panel or wherever makes you happy. I plugged in a fusible link with spade terminal into one of the headlight fuse slots since I won't need them anymore.

Plug connectors back in, and of course, you need to re wire your headlight harnesses for their high and low beams to the red and green/ yellow wires. This method necessitates you grounding the harnesses to the chassis.

So as i found out on my way home, there is a little catch to reversing your headlight polarity. On low beam, your hi beam indicator will be illuminated. It then shuts off when on high beam.

This does not particularly bother me, but I'm sure it would be easy to trace down that indicator bulb wire, and hook it up to the high beam. I'll update if i get around to that.

I'll be sure to drive around tonight and get some pics for y'all.

I hope this is enough pics! I searched and searched for a thread specifically showing these in action and thought the more pics, the better. It's what i wanted to find, but couldn't.

So here ya go, I am overall happy with my purchase.

I think the pics portray the low and high being very similar. I think that is very deceiving, because when you turn those high beams on.... WOW you just see everything.

I'm seeing crap i never noticed before with the halogens: Deer, ditches, the woods, critters climbing trees way off to the sides of the road, inside people's houses, and even PEOPLE'S FACES DRIVING BY! No one brighted me, and there were a lot of other cars out tonight.

I had to adjust them up and in a bit so my low beams actually light up ahead of me and not just all around me. Seems to be a dim zone right in the middle far ahead, but lights right up with high beam.

Honestly, it's insane the amount of light i just bought for 58 bucks. I feel like i can see everything now, even with the low setting being a little odd.

Anyone reading this that has the real truck lights, or any other led headlight, would you be so kind as to post some comparison pics?

Curious how they stack up...

I don’t have any before pics, but when I get home (in a couple weeks) I’ll try to get some comparable pics. These are great, thanks so much @crashmonk !

No problem @unfortunately

I searched and researched for a month because i was afraid of buying a POS. I'm not into the halo or goofy colored led lights, that junk is just going to get the wrong attention.

Appears my research is paying off, I'm happy with them.
