got these powder coated very close to trucks paint colour. he added texture to the tail gate so it's not slippery

progress. the original tail gate was petty rusty so a better one was sourced and repaired

then onto fenders. a friend of mine is picking up some good used ones from 3puppies in Montana and will have them here for next week. it's nice to see things moving along. still looking for a good grill (one with no Chrome blistering). that seems to be a challenge. if really like one with a turbo badge on it like the hj61 ones but who knows what I'll find.

rear windows are out and I'll be taking them in to get tinted. the body work is all done and first primers are on. he's sanding now hoping to have paint all done by next week and then a week of reassembly! it's nearly done and is looking sooo good. no pictures but a little progress update

not totally related to the cruiser but a little as it relates to needing it back as my daily driver. I've been driving my chevelle all summer and it was running great until last week when it suddenly started to backfire through the carb. for those with expertise in the Chevy 350 please correct me if I'm out in left field. I've been good at bolting things together but I'm still learning the art of tuning. anyway I checked timing which was fine. fuel filter was fine so not a false lean state. cleaned carb up and replaced plugs and rotor and cap. still back fire. it's a steady pattern and is at idle as well as throttle. I pulled the valve covers to adjust valves and cylinder 6 exhaust valve was very loose and I could feel and hear what I think is a lifter leak when pushing up and down on the push rod. I think my exhaust valve isn't opening due to a bad lifter so exhaust is venting through the intake valve on the next cycle. is this a reasonable thought? in any case now I'm down my daily driver and am chomping to get the 62 back. I'll have to borrow my dads car for a couple weeks. boo!!

Damn dude that is looking great!!!
Is that the 8B4 color or did you go with something else, hard to tell on my monitor at work.

frame and wheel wells were all coated in box liner to protect them. he put colour matching rocker guard along the rockers. also box lined the inside of the tailgate storage. he's gone all out. i'm so stoked about it all.

dynamat going in over the next couple days and the bumpers and weather stripping. then snorkel and it's done. i expect to have it back next week!! then i get to install my new carpet from trail tailor!! i also shipped an old diff to cruiseroutfitters to have built with 4:11 and an arb. i have a good 4:11 already for the front. once that's all done i'll likely take a break for the winter and just drive it. next year i'll intercool it and add boost!!

i may put a roof rack on it over the winter though. we'll see

thanks for all the kind comments. i got a lot of ideas from this forum and have learned a ton as i have gone. of course most of the big stuff was done professionally for me but the ideas and customization has been mostly things that make it exactly the truck i want. it has cost me but i don't plan on getting rid of it so it's worth it to me to have a truck that makes me smile when i get to drive it every day. it would take 10 years for me to do what's been done the last two years.

happy canadian thanksgiving everyone!!

got a good set of mirrors from a wrecker. bases repainted and all cleaned up. tail gate is on. it looks awesome. should have the truck back next week!!

i'll still have a few things i need to sort out. apparently my rear locks are working again but the power motor is shot. i'll have to go find one. i also need to sort out my rear window washer as it's not working. not sure if it's electrical or the pump.
