finally took the 10 minutes required to install my led done lights from rob smith land cruiser repair aka (extremearrow@yahoo.com). super simple little product. I'll have to see how the work at night but by all accounts they are superior to the old lights.

edit: i went out to the garage after dark and turned the lights on. holy cow what a difference. i thought that id be impressed but really didn't quite expect this difference!!!

oh and I found my mud flaps!! just rears. they're not in as bad of shape as I thought either so I'll clean them up and they'll go on when the body is done. still on track for the end of the month!!

so lots to mull over as I'm getting ready for the body job. I currently have all the stock Chrome except bumpers but think maybe I should delete the snake blinders. mine are a little rusty but have a chance at a set in good used condition. I guess I wonder if I should just get rid of them to decrease the chances of rust returning. I'm going to be putting sliders on. what are your thoughts on this. I like the balance the snake blinders give but I will also be getting rid of the Chrome roof rack to replace it with an ARB so that balance may not be needed. I'll also likely black out the mirrors (but have a good used set of Chrome) but keep the Chrome around the lights and grill. I dont want to go totally blacked out and my Chrome in the window seals is still good and around the side windows and rain gutter rails is all good too. I'm going to stick with the factory grey colour for paint.

Nice cruiser, jealous of the diesel already and I'm picking my '88 fj62 up in 4 weeks exactly, same colour, Canadian model with manual everything and no rust, can't wait.

Wish I had been home in Lake Louise this week to see yours roll through, planning on the same paint scheme(grey on black with no chrome)

Keep posting pics!

nice. if like to see your pictures too. did the PO do a tranny swap? or was the engine swapped too? do you have manual locks and windows too?

my tail gate lid showed up today from socalove! very nice piece of engineering. I'm looking forward to having it installed. any suggestions out there as to the best coating for aluminum that will take the abuse of standing on it and using it as a table? I'd like something with some texture so it's not too slippery when putting stuff on the roof rack

also ordered a mylasian snorkel kit. I figured I may as well get it installed with the body work coming up so I don't have to cut through nice paint later. I have run into a few episodes where I was worried a snokel would prevent harm one recently with my new engine so I figure it's only useful a few times a year but that's often enough that one mistake and my engine is done!

little by little parts are rolling in. i got some inset flood led 4x4 lights off eBay. i'm going to have them put in my rear bumper before repowder coating it. i'll have some nice aux back up lights this way!

wish. I had taken a picture to help describe my newest query. I played in the mud a few weeks ago and since then have developed a nasty squeal in my brakes. I took the front pads out tonight to clean them up. there was a little dried dirt stuck in the pad groove. there was one spot however about the size of a dime on one pad that looked wet and as I dug the dirt out that area just crumbled away. the rest of the pad looks fine and the material is still quite firm and normal. can anyone explain this phenomenon? I've never seen this before. I'll be getting new pads tomorrow.
