the 2F manifolds would not bolt up to the 3fe head.

I’ve been out to sea for the past week and a half so I didn’t make any progress. But I Got home yesterday and found a $500 running/kinda driving parts car on Craigslist.
It’s an 83 fj60. My friend I couldn’t resist the temptation to have spare parts for our 60s so we went half in and bought it.
She’s super rusty but, the wiring, mechanicals and interior is good so we should be able to make a fat profit on parts.
The front valence is also in good shape so I’ll be swapping that over to my 62 along with anything else I might possibly need to finish this conversion. It will also provide me with an easy reference as I’ll be putting my FJ62 together right next to it.

If I could only spend as much money on my 62 as I do on beer and women.

I' think the valence is different between 60's and 62's unless you swap to round headlights

Gutted the FJ60 parts truck this past weekend. I bought a 18 rack of natty and pulled the engine and trans while my buddy dismantled the interior. Yes we did it in a parking garage. Sold the shell with axles for $160.

Also got the cylinder head back from the machine shop, so the 2F will finially go back together this coming weekend. I’m going to keep it as a bare long block so it’s easier to transport in my buddies fj80. Then I’ll boot everything on in the engine bay.

Progress is kinda slow. My job keeps me busy.

2F went together nicely. It’s in the truck mated to the transmission and ready for accessories to go on. Ive really been taking my time prepping, painting, chasing threads, cleaning, assembly lubing and assembling everything. I had my dads 1980s vintage, sears beam style torque wrench checked for proper calibration and used it to torque down the head bolts and rocker shaft boltsI didn’t really plan on this engine staying in the car for very long, but I’ve kinda found a new appreciation for the 2F. It might stay in there long term.

Not sure what to do about the valvecover and intake manifold. I wire wheeled them both and they’re super shiny. I’m going to get some mag polish and shine them up more.Do you think they’d look okay and stay shiny if I clearcoated them after polishing??

Another thing. If you’re going to run 3fe accessories you’re going to need to make a spacer for the alternator bracket to mount to the water pump and use 3fe mount arms. I also decided to run the 3fe balancer because it’s lighter and seems to align better with the accessory pulleys.

Still need to POR15 and reinstall fenders, fj60 rad support and clean and paint the fj60 grille

Hate to be a negative Nancy but it seems like a lot of work for no gain really. IMHO just buying an FJ-60 would have made more sense. I have swapped a 3FE into a 60 series so I am not afraid of these kinds of mods, but I am really not sure what you are gaining from all this work. The EFI on the 62 series is really not that hard to work on. Good luck with your build.

Updates.
-60 dash is in.
-bench seat swap is finished up
-Intake and exhaust are bolted up.
* I used cut washer to shim the manifolds even but I’m still not satisfied with the fitment. Hopefully they won’t leak
-I clean up the valvecover and intake more and clearcoated both.
-por15d the fenders and installed them.

Lots of little things I still need to do

It looks like you have the wrong water pump - as you’ve removed the oil temperature stabilizer.

There’s two small ports on the thermostat housing and two small ports on the water pump. I’ll run a connector hose from the water pump to the thermostat like it would be stock. Then, one hose from the bottom water pump port to the heater core and another hose from the heater core to the thermostat. This will keep proper coolant flow and eliminate failure points

Interesting swap - never seen one done before.

All the work looks good! Keep it up - fall is here!!

Cheers! Swap is almost done, just needs a few little things to be road trip ready. I absolutely love the character of the super simplified, uncorked 2F.
unfortunately I was unable to get it done as quickly as I had hoped, work got in the way, but it was a great learning experience for me. I have a very thorough knowledge of FJ60s now. I’ll post some more details and pics once I get back from thanksgiving leave.

Curious what the bench seat it out of?

Also, did you make or buy those door cards?

Swapped in a brand new Holley 2300 with #58 jets. Also did a home brew distributor recurve I posted on this thread. '83 FJ60- Dizzy Recurve- Can anyone demystify this process?
I have the timing set at about 8 degrees of initial timing and it revs quickly (for a 2F) and pulls my truck worth 35s very well.
Can’t wait to take her camping this weekend!
