Looks like the two big gaskets that go inside the air filter assembly are tough to find. Does it cause problems not having them in? Is there any sort of alternative anyone has had luck with? Thanks!!

I've had problems with mine, but you could cut one from bulk gasket material. A coating of wheel bearing grease will not hurt anything. All you need is a seal.

You could buy a sheet of rubber and make your own gaskets. Use the old ones as a template and cut out with good scissors or a knife. Not sure what the original rubber material is but McMaster…though a little pricy….spells out what the diff materials are rated for and ships quickly.

Getting closer!!!!! Brakes are bled now and fuel situation looks good. Went to put air cleaner assembly back on and of course the previous owner must have tossed the 3 mounting bolts. Any idea what size bolts these are??? Threads look pretty fine. Looks like one in the back, one in front and the one that goes into the passenger side of engine(maybe that one is different from the other two). Thanks for the help!!

As an example. I just replaced my clutch. The hardest part was installing the boots for the shift levers. I know how ridiculous it sounds, but those screws would not bite until I chased them with the proper die. That is just one example.

Yep
Looking at the last picture you posted, I might have told you wrong… what you are holding looks like the PCV (positive crankshaft ventilation) hose. This is what mine looks like and how the hoses are run. My t connection runs to the HIC valve (high idol compensation) under the air cleaner housing-its a small plastic part. And then to the HAI (Hot air intake) -hockey puck looking part on the neck of the air cleaner housing.
That’s the smaller diameter hoses from the T connector. Now for the larger diameter hose coming out of the PCV after the t connector… it runs from the passenger side to the driver side and connects to hard line under the carburetor that runs into the EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation)
At least that’s how mine is set up. I hope I named everything correctly and I’m giving you good info. Good luck. HTH
