So I had the battery tested and it is good. Had starter tested and it also checked out. I initially got the motor to briefly turn but now I get nothing. When I turn the key to ACC and hit the wipers they come on for a few seconds and then kick off. My buddy thinks it is an ignition switch issue. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

The headlights should work without the key in the ignition. If they turn on and are bright when key is out, then battery is working. Yeah maybe ignition switch is bad. But maybe not.
Check the contact integrity of the fusible link. Look for burning plastic or corrosion on the electric spade terminals.

RockAuto has a good aftermarket ignition switch that works great but it comes with a different key - so you’ll always have to have two keys.
I used that switch. Two keys wasn’t a hassle at all.

OK. Thank you. To me it seems like I am not getting power from the battery. Cables all look good but I guess it could be something more. The rig sat for years so I'm wondering if a mouse got to something.

Remove the battery clamps and clean them up along with the battery terminal studs. The clamp can feel tight when trying to wiggle it but still make poor electrical connection.

Cleaned clamps and studs. I turned on headlights and got a funny noise almost like a humming coming from the dash. Lights didn't come on however. Could it be some sort of ground issue? Thanks!

Clean the contacts of the headlight stalk- you will need to remove the clamshell on the steering column, then you will be able to see what's up with the ignition switch. The humming sound indicates resistance at a connector? Mouse nests are teh worst- check underneath the dash for chewed wiring, insulation clumps. Main grounds are behind the drivers side left foot kickpanel, should be a white/black striped wire to a bolt.

Well I finally got it to crank and the engine is free!! Just disconnected everything between the battery to the starter to the ignition and it turned. Problem is I’m not sure what fixed it if it happens again but atleast I know the engine isn’t seized!! Thanks for all the help.

So next was to put a new carb that previous owner bought back in. Got it connected(nuts were tough to get on!) but I can’t figure out the darn throttle linkage connection. I was able to disconnect linkage rod and put it up to the old carb. Does the ball just rest up against that hole?? I did some searching and saw some good write ups with pics but couldn’t find any from the firewall side that should how the rod connects to the carb. Appreciate any help!! Hopefullly my lousy pics help.

The end that connects to carb..do the round ends just rest underneath, up against or inside the hole? Thanks!

No it’s a link connection via a rod between the 2 balls. I am not by the cruiser to get better pics. Maybe someone here has better pics of link connections

The balls fit sockets. It's engineered in a way that you will know when it's right. Unless it's not OEM.

Thanks guys. I will keep messing with it. I know how the rod connects back by the firewall I just can’t figure out the exact placement on how it attaches to the carb. Do I have it close in pic 2? I feel like I am missing a piece or a spring of some sort. Thanks!!

I’m not by my truck but I recall there is a ball here to connect the short rod.?

Ok. Thanks. It’s hard to get a decent pic with it in the rig from the backside so I thought I would remove the rod linkage and put it up to the old OEM carb. I will keep messing with it!

There is a clip type push pin on one end of the long linkage rod

I think I am missing 78103A (small spring) and that's why I can't figure the darn thing out. It was in pieces in a bin and has been a nightmare to sort through!
