Pulled the lines apart back by the tank. Was able to get some old gas out of the return line but nothing from the supply line. We did blow a little air back through it and it seemed to be open. Hooked everything back up but still no luck getting gas to carb, in fact it doesn't appear that gas is making it to the fuel filter. Going to test the fuel pump tonight. My buddy is convinced it is plugged up back by the tank but I don't want to drop the tank unless we absolutely have to!! This is probably a really dumb question but is there some sort of check valve on the supply line back by the tank? Thanks!!!
No check valve that I know of. You could go get a stretch of soft fuel hose from the parts store and bypass the hard line from the tank to the fuel filter to see if you get flow again. That’ll get you down the road a bit until you can get new hard lines. Just make sure you secure that rubber hose well enough that it doesn’t chaff against the frame.
I forget, did you open the compartment in the back of the truck where the sending unit goes? That’s an easy one to access and you’ll get a decent look into the tank. The send and return lines are covered with a mesh screen and there’s a slosh box built around them to help keep them submerged. I can imagine that if you ran the tank dry and then let the truck sit for a while that rust could form in the lines and tank.

Appreciate the feedback!! I did open the sending unit on top to pump old gas out!! I will try and look closer to see if I can see the slosh box. If the supply line isn't plugged up should I get gas running out it when I disconnect back by the tank where the hard line meets the rubber line or does the line go into the tank from up above the tank and the only way I would get gas is from the fuel pump pulling it towards the engine?

Depending on how much fuel you have in the tank it may syphon out when you remove the line. If the end of the hose is below the level in the tank it will spill unless you have blockage inside the tank. When you peer into the top you’ll probably need to use your phone with the camera light to see the corner clearly where the send and return lines are. It’s the corner where the hard lines go into the top of the tank. Check that first. Then, with a bucket in place, remove the soft line from the tank and drop it as low as you can to see if it pulls fuel. If it does then I would imagine the hard line on the frame is blocked.

Cool!! Thanks for the pics.
Maybe I will just haul it in for the tank recall and let them replace all of it!! Thought it would be better if it was running when I took it in though.

Well I think I got the supply line opened up finally. The slosh box was filled with all sorts of gunk. cleaned it out the best I could with a clothes hanger. Thanks for those pics cps432!! They really helped.
Excellent! Glad I snapped those when I was in there. I honestly had no reason to other than to help others.

You will likely need to replace the pickup tube assembly that sits on top of the tank and sucks fuel from the bottom. Yours will almost certainly be disintegrated. The part (still available, about $50) is not covered under the recall. Good time to replace the sending unit too. Give the parts to the tech doing the work since he/she will be touching those parts in the tank swap anyway, so, in essence, you get them installed for free.

@Dekeman, thanks for the advice! I’m set to take it in on Tuesday for the recall but going to touch base tomorrow to make sure the pickup unit is getting replaced. If not I will get one and have them do it while installing new tank. Same with sending unit.

So just like the carb was in a bunch of pieces when I got the rig I think the air filter is missing some parts. Is there a big gasket like the attached pic that goes on the bottom and the top? I only have the one. Also, are there any other gaskets that goes with the air filter? Thanks!! Merry Christmas
Deleted….can’t remember how gaskets are config’d and don’t want to pass on bad info.

@Seth S thanks a bunch!!!! I’m going to order that circular one. What I’m unsure of if anyone knows is the two that go inside the assembly on each side of the filter. Are they the same or different and can you order them anywhere? Thanks!!
