Objective: I would like to install a 2"-3" Shackle Lift on my Pig.

I have a bone stock FJ55 Survivor and I'd like to keep it relatively stock (within reason)....

I installed 33x10.50s this week which fit great for "street use" but I'd like to do a shackle lift so there won't be issues with the tires rubbing under moderate articulation.

I'd also like to keep the original springs i place since they ride nice.

I guess SOA would be an option, but that might be a little too much lift with 33" tires.

Question 1: FJ40 Shackles are easy to find online. Can I use FJ40 shackles on my FJ55 ?
Question 2: If not, where can I buy extended FJ55 Shackles ?

Thanks for any info.

To be more accurate, FJ40 shackles will work IF they are 8/80 and newer. Larger bolt size. 18mm vs 15mm

I offer the larger shackles in 1.25, 2.25 and 3" over stock. You are welcome to browse my website and call or post with follow up questions. Please do not PM me.

Best

A long add a leaf- OME maybe, and not fj55 specific, 'cause there ain't one- and a middlin' shackle lift would be good. and shim back to caster spec. I know Georg has some nice steels shims...you don't need alot to clear 33s

Thanks Mark !

Do you offer the FJ55 Spring Bushings ? I heard they are different than 40 series bushings.

Thanks

I have not made a point of stocking bushings for the FJ55. That said, I inherited a stockpile of bushings from Downey when they went out of business. I have never fully gone through them, but I am reasonably sure there are 55 bushings in there.

I also have a pair of fixed gusset shackles for sale in the classifieds.

The add a leaf mod is one that supposedly works for 40's. You remove the bottom two stock shortest leaves and replace with one add a leaf. This gains you about 1.5" or so.

Your results on a 55 will vary I'm sure.

However, doing this and a small shackle lift would be better than trying to do it all with really long shackles for sure.

Shackles only give half the lift as rated and will affect your driveline and steering angles in a negative way.

Hey Logic2, nice pig! My wife is now the proud owner of a 1976 pig. This post caught my attention because what you explained you wanted to do is exactly what we are looking to do as well (2-3in) lift and running 33x10.50, same tire in fact. I run them on my 40 and love them. What route did you end up taking to achieve this? Did you need to modify anything else like the drivelines, shocks, etc? We are trying to keep it simple as well. We were looking at trying to go the OME route, but it would require moving the rear spring attachments back a bit (no biggie), but we are new to the 55 game and this post has my attention. By the way, nice pit too!

First thing I did to my 40 when I got it was to take the long shackles a PO put on. Eliminated darting on the highway. Might want to look at good quality spring lift instead. Just my $.02
