@ToyotaMatt hoping I can remove that idle screw and spring w/o removing the carb. Maybe just remiove the vac advance and hoses....I WILL report back on this.

That indeed worked like magic. Now I need to figure out the best way to reinstall the VCG without any leaks.. Also, seemed the #1 lifter was making a small oil mess before I noticed. Put a rag there and was fine. Any best practices on the VCG?One full turn doesn’t put you back in same position. Turn the motor over one rotation after your first adjustment, the other set of exhaust and intake valves will be ready to be adjusted, just like magic.

show me cover style you have , the LIP under it / crimp area ...

yes,, cork. Whats the trick to keeping it in place before torqueing the nuts. pernatex on the bottom?you have a REAL CORK OEM gasket ?

so I ordered a 1/2" 6 point 14mm socket to hopefully remove these exhaust flange bolts. Ive been spraying them with PB blaster for a few days. I was planning on using an impact gun to loosen them. I did see a video of someone very slowly walking the bolt out w/ a breaker bar. What are your thought on this? goal is to remove the bolts w/o breaking them off and have a bigger project on my hands. I'll heat up the flange before using the socket/impact or breaker bar/ big 1/2 inch rachet
