To late. He beat me to it. Word on the street (wife who went by today with Jr.) is that it is coming apart completely today for final paint and to put back together.

Here is to hoping as we only have 61 days before the wife makes the 3000 plus mile drive back to Savannah with the project in tow complete or not.

2 months? You guys are on the home stretch. Looking forward to seeing u guys and the cruiser. Running or no, you'll have the nicest one in town.

Yep about 3 before I get back. Wife will get back a couple of weeks early to move into the new place and get ready to greet me upon the return. I highly doubt it will be done, I think I will be stocking the beer fridge and have a couple of BBQ's at the house to finish her up and christen her to the streets of Merica!!!

I'll give you a ring as soon as I get back and settled in.

It EXPLODED!!

Well here are the pics of her finally torn down into every little piece and ready to go for paint and coatings. After that hopefully put those zinc coated bolts to good use ad some fuel and electricity and see if she is ready to go in 58 days :hhmm:

Was looking back at an old thread of when I first found her in Colombia abandoned and in purgatory at the Embassy. That was Feb 2009. 15 months later she finally made it to the States. It is going to be a long 5 year journey but hopefully she is completely "done" by the end of the year and I can put her back to good use like she was intended and better than the day she rolled off the assembly line in Japan.

What am I going to name her?

Somehowe the name Concubine pops up.

Considered myself edumacated :) but I didn't know the true meaning of Concubine.

A: one having a recognized social status in a household below that of a wife.

I think my wife would approve of that :)

The "Colombian Concubine"...I like it.

So I haven't heard much in awhile. I gather not much is happening. Kinda bummed it won't be done in time to enjoy it this fall in the South but such is life. I wish I could get my hand in it as well, as looks like a lot of fun.

It is on rollers now and should get loaded up on a trailer for paint is my guess.

Like the finished look of the bumper. Kinda cool how they integrated the stock TEQ bumpers. I'll have to finish them up with some yellow paint.

Also needed some new plugs, threads, and nuts for the rear cover that was beat up so I just ordered this instead. Not a bad looking unit. Not sure how much I like it but it will do its job well I'm sure.

Pulled some parts from the parts car to wire up the engine and make sure all the glow plugs, starter, and cuttoffs work right. That and want to do a test run of the engines with the rebuilt turbo and a few new parts to check for leaks. Figure out balance boost, etc. Not sure how much boost we can get without a load though.

So clean you can lick it.

Damn your Dad is good with steel. LOVE that VIN window....

Well engine seized on the stand. Haven't had a chance to talk to them about it. Might use the rebuilt one but am worried about the rebuild standards (missing multiple parts to include head bolts). At least the rebuilt turbo worked well. I'm more worried about their testing standards as the fact that this engine seized up is odd to say the least.

Looks like we are going to have a few month hiatus from the project while the wife moves back across the country and I get ready to redeploy in a couple of months.

Sorry no specifics on the Rustoleum blend. All he told me was it was a 4:1 mix of Rustoleum Semi-Gloss with Hardener. Then they thinned it with enamel thinner until it sprayed nice. I think that is all there really is to it. I don't know the brand or type of Hardener they used though.

That's a bugger! In my experience European machines are fickle beasts.when they run they are fantastic, when not, god help you. I wouldn't blame the family, the engine was just in the mood to seize. Between the dead engine and the supposedly rebuilt one, surely you can cobble together one good lump.

That's sucks. Better on the stand than miles in the middle nowhere with the family along. Set back are what make a project great when it all comes together Right? Other wise everyone would have a similarly awesome 43
