Wow... Thanks... you are the first one to notice that... I have changed one to be called 57B (although they are not related... I just didn't want to add a new number) I THINK the one now labeled 57B is one of the two brake pressure switches noted in the spreadsheet...

I'll update the spread sheet too...

Yea, you should change 56 to 56a and 57b to 56b, then 56a and 56b will be the pressure sensors.

55 is the manifold temp sensor on a '78. My '76 has long since been removed. The carb solenoid comes from the other side of the harness.

54 is where the washer pump is in my '76. 13 is around where it is in my '78. When did it get moved? If there was a model year change, the carb fan might have moved from the front driver's corner to the drivers cowl in which case 54 might be the carb fan.

I'm going out to look at mine here in a little while.

I don't remember if i said how awesomely helpful this was but it was HUUUGE in helping me figure stuff out, thanks!

I'm working on an updated version with all the names on the image when you zoom in, so for basic identification you don't need to go back and forth with the
spreadsheet...

Does anyone have more info for 37-39 than "column" it seems a little vauge.. (not having taken that section of my 40 apart to know)

or # 57?

Thanks,

Cal-

I'm giving a big thanks for this too. The harness for the truck I'm building was already out and partially damaged. It's a little different but not much as it's a July '77.

I included the spread right on the image for quick reference. There are still a couple of missing items. Anybody (Coolerman...) that can identify the rest, please do.

Mine is out and was labeled as I removed it. I'll try to check it this weekend Rainey.

Unfortunately it converted your image to low res, so cannot zoom in on the spreadsheet. Upload it and link it. Photo bucket or google photos maybe. Or email it to me and I'll find a home for it.

My mail program is crunching on sending it now...

This is way cool-better than the diagrams that came with the truck, plus it has the connector images.

Did you ever think---put the larger image on the PC--walk back ~ 15'--looks almost like Telico--
this thing blown up and put on a palette in an art museum-you could call it "Connections"
Very nice job !

Here is the link to the photo and the current list of connections. Thanks Rainman (technical illustrator) for thinking of and doing this.

I can't take credit here. It's just a slight mod to one I found on another thread. I'm sorry I don't remember the name. I'll give credit when I find out.

Also. It doesn't match my '77. It's close but a bit surprising at what small changes there are. I'm working on creating a diagram for mine and will post on my thread when I get it figured out.

After a bit of research it appears that 59 is labeled wrong. That is not a wiper motor connection. 57 and 59 are VSV (Vacuum Switched Valve) connections for California spec emissions FJ40's. Not all harnesses will have those two connectors, though the one I have does. 57 connected to a VSV that connected to the Speed Sensor computer, and 59 is connected to what is labeled a "Top Switch"?

Sorry took so long to figure that out but there it is! :D I also updated the spreadsheet.

Thanks Cool'Man. I noticed that yesterday when I was working on mine. It was labeled twice.

Funny you mention that. A few weeks ago I had these diagrams printed out and in the truck for an upcoming harness replacement. My daughter glanced at it and asked me what trails those were.

My '77 harness was a tad bit different, but I too found these references extremely helpful. Big thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort!
