If my cruiser wasn't in pieces I'd help out. Maybe next time. Fingers crossed.

Is there anyone heading west from Mojave to Bako at some point? Sounds like Cali. is gettin' close!

I'm in Southern Ca. I could go a few hours out from Venice.

anybody in the Phoenix or Tucson area who could take the Baton to Yuma (I-8), Blythe (I-10), or further north close to the AZ-CA border ?

and who from the California side wants to meet up ?

I would like to meet up but Yuma is 300 miles from Venice. Stock seats and no hard top would be an iron butt trip in my 71.

maybe a bit later in the year when it's colder ? or how about Blythe ?

I once did Phoenix to Moab on the stock seat - 480 miles :hillbilly: - but granted, I did have a softtop then (not installed now)

I'll be in the LA area (Where my 40 is) during the labor day weekend. I'll be happy to drive out to the border of Nevada/Arizona to grab one or two of these briefcases/toolboxes. I'll even be down to even caravan with other Cali 40s

If toyoyalandfj40 got it back to Pasadena I could get it up to Frazier park/ Gorman area and then someone from Bakersfield could make the grab from there.

I actually live in the Bay Area for the most part, but my rig doesn't have a parking spot up here. If it did, I'd drive it straight to Georg at Valley Hybrids and leave it with my truck haha!

My wife and I drove our '76 FJ40 up to the Solid Axle Summit in Ouray this past weekend and it did great on the highway (and off-road), comfortable keeping it at about 60 mph tops. On the drive home yesterday in western New Mexico it was still uncomfortably warm with the sun beating in the passenger side, even with the windows wide open at 60 mph. We're going to wait a bit for our briefcase hand-off until the weather cools down a bit more, we'll be meeting @Reznugget in or around Chinle, AZ and check out Canyon de Chelly. @kblomquist is in Kanab, UT, between Chinle and Las Vegas, so sending the southern baton to southern California from Phoenix makes sense.

I'll post recent photos of the briefcase's travels on the Travelogue thread later today after recovering from our drive. Thanks again to @mcguirejohnson and @POTATO LAUNCHER for setting up the SAS! Check it out: Solid Axle Summit 2017 Official Thread

I would gladly pick it up from valley hybrids and take it to Oregon. Did some of the stickers get transferred into both batons so Everyone that payed receives one? I will pay any postage and the difference for the "misplaced ones" as long as there are some left when they get this far! Any idea of timing for one or both batons hitting N. California?

I've got 51 stickers in the briefcase and can mail some to the toolboxes tomorrow via USPS Priority Mail if I know where to send them @DSRTRDR @PWCO70crusier. There are 10 remaining with @DSRTRDR and none with @PWCO70crusier, so I figure 10 more to @DSRTRDR and 20 to @PWCO70crusier. That'll leave 21 in the briefcase for @Reznugget and those west of him.

we are working on moving the baton...I ran into some serious health issues in July, and have been off driving for about a month. Right now @Pops has it in Fountain CO. We are thinking of a few ways to move it on...the 40s only run coming up here in early Sept, or taking a trip west to UT at some point. I'm hoping to get past my health stuff soon, and be able to participate...I MISS DRIVING MY 40!! :D

Sorry to hear that Paul. I wouldn't stress about it too much, your health is more important than doing the handoff.

Yep, no hurry. Waiting a little while yet for the weather to cool down a bit before driving the briefcase to Arizona. Sounds like a good time to mail some stickers to @Pops.
