I did a search thru the whole site and could not find a thread that pertained to this subject. Where can I find some steel interior door panels? The originals are great but I want something different. Similar to the kind fo panels that are on early broncos. I am sure I can make some but don't have the time or the space to fab up some. Thanks for the help. JT

I uploaded all the interior door panels and woody has them hosted under the technical links section. Take the file to your fabricator and they can make them out of any material you want. Mine ended up being aluminum and were cut with a CNC router....

I'll post pics of what ever I end up doing. The only hard part about living in Aspen is there are few local resources for metal fab. But I have thought about aluminum that would be sweeeet.

Check down valley, with all the high end homes that have lots of custom wood and metal work, I think you'll find someone.
Check with some of the sheet metal companies in Carbondale or Spring Fabrication or JMS Machine & Design the only issue is they are in Co Springs.

Find a shop that has a water jet and take the files to them. Your gonna get a much better product. Plus it might be cheaper.

I sent these files to a local Boise shop, and got a quote of $275 for all 4 door panels, plus the two rear panels, in thin gauge steel diamond plate, including material. Aluminum would likely be a bit more. I was thinking the steel diamond plate would look good painted, or even done in a rhino-line type stuff.

I like the steel idea, but anyone have any thoughts on the additional weight on the hinges?

What about plastic?
I was sittin' in the Pig just the other day, replacing that center section of the dash, and thinking about a clear, or smoked plastic blanking plate that could be drilled for mounting toggle switches...and thinking about plexiglass floorboards to improve trail visibility when I thunk about clear, or smoked, plastic door panels...
Might be lighter than metal. Probably cheaper. Easier to work with. Probably tough enough.
Just thinkin'

I think you're crazy goin' the steel route, unless you're sitting on a "Trollhole" sized stash of hinges AND doors.

I think Pighead's onto something with the plexi

:hhmm:

JT, if you're wanting to get rid of the original inner door panels I'm still looking for a pair of front panels in good shape (no speaker holes or tears, broken backer board OK so long as the vinyl is good).
