I imagine you are talking mostly hardwoods (where you are)?

I'd be looking at something more in the 60cc-65cc range.

Question for you pros. I need a new mid range chainsaw to handle cutting larger trees. I use my 40cc husky in the woods all the time but I need to replace my larger husky that died on me. I'd like something that can run a 24" blade and can be counted on to be reliable.

Lately I've been looking at:
stihl ms 291 - 55.5cc - ~$450
jonsered cs2255 - 55.5cc - ~$430
husqvarna 455 - 55.5cc - ~$430

What do you guys think? Are there other models I should consider for the price/power ratio?

As long as we are using your money, I'm thinking this would be perfect:
Want to Sell - NIB STIHL MS661 ARCTIC WRAP CHAINSAW POWERHEAD $1250USD shipped.

heated handle.

The MS 291 will not handle a 24”-25” bar.

The expert doesn't need backup - but my dealer said the biggest bar he would sell me for my MS362 was 25". And that is a 7.5 HP saw (I believe). I wouldn't go any less than the 362 for serious work.

Thanks fellas. May have to raise the budget or lower my expectations.

Put that 462 to use today, a load of lodgepole and another good fir.

Severe thunderstorm a couple weekends ago took down this German Hawthorn tree at my dads vacation house along the Columbia River.

Used our Stihl MS461 32” bar and Kubota mini to get the job done.

Not sure if you are still looking, but 2 years ago I bought an Echo CS-590 Timberwolf. Will handle a 24" bar. IMO, better specs than those you mentioned, aluminum or magnesium crank case not clamshell, bolt on cylinder, 5 year warranty. My "stihl" friends have been impressed with it, even though they would never be seen with an Echo  Just another option to think about in that price/feature range.

Just 2 days ago clearing a downed tree.

Pretty place. Mighty big tree for that saw.

Thanks, it’s way to small but has cut all a fire for the last 10 years and I got it used.

Here’s a better pic you can see where I’m cutting these logs up above the house.

You've got it good my friend. Lovely place. Like you, I have property out in the Country that I live on. Only go to the City when I have to. Hate to mow your place though...kinda hilly. I bet its Post Card beautiful when it snows.

Thanks for the compliment it’s a lot of work but worth it. We only go to town when we have to as well.Yes mowing is sketchy but I only mow it twice a year, one day I’ll put some cattle on it.

Oh God....NO. Anything but Cattle. They are such stupid animals. Horses, sheep or anything else you can think of that will graze the grass...but not cattle, trust me. Or just keep mowing it. It looks great.

Went in with a few friends and rented this firewood processor for a week. I had it for my day and wish I would’ve skidded our more logs. It is a beast!

Moving the last bit of wood to the shed today,
Had to put this little guy down after he scared the wife.
He was hiding in the wood pile.
