Just picked up an 04 Blizzard White Pearl GX470. Got home about 30 mins ago. 152k miles. Belonged to a Retired Judge and his wife. Got all service records since it was new... Has had the timing belt and related major service done about 13k miles ago.

Needs a detail job and headlight restoration but thats about it...TIME TO START THE BUILD!! Anything to look out for or preventative care that can be done. Dash is cracked but good thing for the RECALL!

Oh geez , 2004 , the worst year , just wait till the white paint starts to peal

Just kidding

Nice truck! What color interior, and does it have nav?

Looks good! Similar to what I started with

As far as preventive care, I definitely recommend a standard baseline- change out all the fluids including transmission and transfer case, filters, check all hoses, spark plugs and wires, fix any rust or potential rust spots, replace radiator if needed or just drain and fill, I'd check the fan clutch as it may be going out soon, replace any worn suspension items, drive belt, check the alternator, get a new battery (Toyota 84 month rocks), grease the drive shafts and U joints. Im sure I missed some stuff but that should keep you busy for a while.

Good luck!

Thank you all for the advice. It's in for a detail right now. Been there for about 5 hours and they're still not done.
Will be doing the preventive maintenance items. Thanks Adams for the advice...will start on all of that next week.

Objective is to start an expedition build. So sliders, bigger tires, suspension, and so on...

Any Arizona Land Cruisers/GX meets or drives coming up? Would love to do some simple stuff.

another AZ GX! I saw this truck on Craigslist, nice score!

Congrats! Time to strip off the running boards and go up a tire size!

Tan interior and Yes unfortunately it does have nav. :-(

Going in tomorrow for:
Brake Fluid
Power Steering Fluid
Transmission Fluid
Coolant Flush
Diff Fluid
Transfer Case Fluid
Engine Oil
Grease the Prop Shaft and Slip Joints
Air Filter
Cabin Filter

Will have my mechanic look over the CV boots, radiator, axle joints.

Anything else I should look out for or have done as maintenance/preventative Maint? What brands of fluids do you all recommend for all above?

I've got nav too, it's not that big of a deal. Don't let that hold back the excitement!

Haha well my navi just died. Just displays Lexus and then nothing...I press A/C and it says CHECK AC CONNECTION. No other button does anything...anyone have any ideas what the issue is?

While it was getting detailed the battery died and had to be jumped. Bad fuse? Navi needs a reset?

Regarding AC: Check Air Conditioner warning message!!!! - Club Lexus Forums

I would also fully charge the battery (or replace it if it's failing). Poor quality power can do weird things.

Disconnected the battery for a few and that resolved the issue. Will look into a new battery. Although the current one is not old either.

Sometimes they die early - it's worth load testing it (most auto parts places will do that for free).

Check the alternator. The stock one is barely enough to run all the stuff on the GX. If you have lost any amount of output it can kill a new AGM battery in months.

At the Mechanic now. He will do a load test for me as well and take a look at the alternator. Asked him to inspect the CV Boot, Bushings, grease ball joints...anything else while its still there?

Everything checked out fine and did our first road trip from phoenix to souther california just fine....until it leaked oil all over my father in laws driveway...idk what it is. Coming from the front of the car but havent gotten under it to look it over...not transfer case...but idk. Switched to synthetic oils on everything. Have to drive back to AZ tomorrow. Anyone in socal want to take a look? Mechanics are all closed lol
My knowledge is limited on this car
