I love it when a plan comes together...Alright that it. I am officially working on the plan.
Not yet. I am waiting until I take it out as it would be easier. The rear main may be the issue and cant get that cap off that w/o pulling the motor so it seemed like a good idea to wait unitl I had the other engine and picker in hand before moving fwd. hoping in the next few weeks I'll have it. I might clean and paint the engine bay while I have access. As we know, one project almost always leads to 1-5 othersDid we ever figure out the source of the shavings?
I was def in it for a bit. After visiting MUD I got pulled out of it. Thanks team!Try not to get stuck in a doom loop - I know I do.
Start pulling those caps and see what you learn.
Also there's no reason you should struggle with that hood blocking your light. And for goodness sake, take off the radiator support and grille before inserting engine.![]()

I feel the same but sometimes unfirtunately s*** happens. I wasn't planning on diving in to this lvl of repairs but on a positive note@Tomba. Good luck with this new engine. As much as I love doing something like this….I'm so glad I’m not
Get 2 long bolts for the bellhousing to trans. Cut the heads off, use a band saw to make a slot in each for a flathead screwdriver. Put them in the top 2 holes of the bellhousing to use as guide pins for aligning the trans to the bellhousing. This will line up the input shaft perfectly to the pilot bearing. You may have to turn the transfercase output to spin the trans slightly (leave in gear) to align the splines. Put in the bottom 2 trans bolts, unscrew your guide pins. Install top 2 trans bolts. Have a beerAlso, is there a trick(s) to aligning the input spline into the motor when I install ?
