I'm with ya Adam! Except for all the custom mods...

Yup, Glad I live in Denver and can have Robbie on my 40 and Slee on my 100.

^ @KlausVanWinkle: Yes I'm guilty of getting in too deep with this rig/platform. OTOH for all the places its taken me there just isn't another vehicle that would need much less in the way of custom mods to get through the terrain its seen and still be comfortable, quiet and capable for any road paved, goat trail or in between ;). Its an incredibly versatile platform...

Its certainly been the most versatile and dependable vehicle I've ever owned...and I'm no young lad and I've owned a bunch of vehicles over the years. Having said that I made a brutal mistake the other day and test drove Christo's 35'd and re-geared 200. Not good.

The nomad story would take at least several bottles of wine or equivalent in beer or smoky margaritas...to tell the tale. We should just meet out in the desert some day soon and I'll fill you in.

I suspect that the perfect vehicle doesn't exist for any of us. Christo's 200 led me through Hell's Revenge and lingers in the back of mind as a possible, future Dad-mobile.

Sounds perfect. Desert season is almost upon us. My new rig is a suspension and tire swap away from keeping up with the SpressoWagon. My airlift airbags are no match for super soft suspension and shocks in "the brand that shall not be named."

Although my wheeling homies might not agree :D...I've seriously tried to slow down and extend the life of all things. Me included :D

I know this is a 100 blog, but the 200's are looking better and better now that my wife's and my 100 LC's have over a 1/4 million miles on each...:hmm:

Yes. With a Kimberely Kruiser in tow

Then splice them together... ta da!

So, other than a short period of time after @cDan & @beno sold me a complete new rear driveshaft assembly in '09 when I broke down 10-miles from ABQ...another story for another day ;)...I had the notorious and irritating driveline clunk when just starting out from a dead stop.

While I had the driveshafts out a couple weeks ago apart of the flex plate install job at Robbie's, I cleaned and lubed both driveshaft yoke and spline assemblies. But even after thoroughly removing all the old grease and lubing with a light coat of fresh moly the vacuum, most apparent on the rear unit because of its length of movement, was unacceptable to me. The grease zirk on the rear yoke was bent...and easily snapped into 2-pieces that would require an easy out to remedy.

I decided, since I didn't want to take even more time for the flex plate job by running all over town trying to find a tiny easy-out, to leave it be as it cured the yoke to spline vacuum problem ;).

I admit: I don't miss the driveline clunk.

I wonder if you could find a micro filter to thread in that would allow it to breath without letting in contamination.

I'm not concerned about in the least bit. Given when you push grease into the yoke via the zirk little to none really gets to the splines anyway...I think sans zirk in the grand scheme of things is the lesser evil. But only time will tell whether I'm right...or just being stupid :D.

What about agua getting in and rusting things up solid? Probably less of a concern if it's driven daily. Mine sits post outing.

may be less aggravating to drill and tap for a new zirk than to try and remove the old one, but, yes, I'd want to make sure dirt and water can't get in there. That would be as easy as plugging the old hole, though.

From the night before last. All the recent mechanical snafus and subsequent repairs...paid off.

A couple more...

Although it doesn't look unusually green to those that don't live in the desert regions its amazing with how much rain the area has gotten the past 4-months, and continues to get, how lush the landscape is this summer!

Can you imagine what it would have been like to have been on the same trail in 1850?! The world was much bigger...

Just drove through California from north of San Fran to San Diego and now in Vegas. Hard to tell California from Nevada, it's all dry and brown. With all the Traffic I think I averaged 20 mph driving through Calif. ;) . I use to think it would be great to live in Calif, but with the extreme traffic conditions, high taxes, expensive housing and wierd weather conditions, not my cup of tea!! But I will be driving to California one more time to ship my 100 to Maui when I sell the house in Texas :).
