And we don't have a way to capture wain water other than the reservoirs.
With all due respect KlausVanWinkle, LA and pretty much all of So. Cal. has holding ponds that allow rain, run-off and snow melt to be captured and held so it percolates back into our ground water tables which is really were we got most of our water that is not imported. My father-in-law is retired from the LA County flood control district. That was his job.

But you are right, too much does just go back into our Pacific. As a surfer, that's when all the yuck  get's dumped into our surf spots and the bacteria counts jump so high the counties "red flag" the beaches on account of bad water not wave size.

Dan, where is that in NV? I don't recognize. Is north and east, maybe past Winnemucca?

Yes...south of Jackpot. Morning alpine glow...timed it just right. But wish I had more megapixels ;)

Arkansas has some of the highest taxes. Both income and sales tax but we have massive amounts of mallards for 4 months a year too so i aint goin nowhere.

Hotter and smokier than heck all over much of the west right now. So, spent the day wheeling in the 'higher ups' where the air was thinner and much cooler.

Unequivocally YES! I'd say putting the Recaro in my 100 was the single best mod for me! I have a hamstring/IT band/Sciatica issue I deal with and the Recaro eliminated 99% of the pain I used to get in the OEM seat. Plus for off-road, especially technical terrain, being firmly and securely planted in the seat is night/day comparison to the OEM seat.

I miss the electrics but for more $ you can opt out of the manual control within the Recaro line.

If you are interested I highly recommend you get to a stocking dealer and sit on them! And FYI/FWIW these seats, like all the pseudo racing and/or racing heritage seats, are not designed for larger arses. If I was much bigger in that department (wear a 35" jean/pant and weigh 2 bills normally) the seat would not work.

Thank you for your reply. For my 95 FZJ80 I am looking at the Expert M or maybe L, not sure. I am a bit larger then you at 6'2" and 235# and I know that is HUGE for European seats. I had a not very successful back surgery about 5 years ago and need to get back out to nowhere with my boys. So I'll do anything to make that happen. By chance did you get to try L seat bottom? Have you had a chance to try the Ergomed or Opitped seats?

Well I just found out that the L bottom for the Recaro Expert or Specialist is not available to the US market. The M bottom is apparently the only one suited for someone with a 36" and over waist.

I actually went to the shop in Berkeley with the intention of buying the Orthoped (#1) or Ergomed (#2). They didn't have the Orthoped but did have the Ergomed for test sitting; but it was too narrow in the seat bottom for me. I looked at their seat drawings and measurements, etc., and determined the Orthoped would be a good fit...assuming the dimensions on the drawing(s) matched real life seats ;). And the lead time for the Orthoped, and it wasn't cancelable/returnable as a special order...even if it didn't fit me. So the Specialist got the nod.

I bought the Specialist because #1 it fit. And #2 it could be fitted with the optional arm rest which I ordered at the same time I purchased the seat. But it took them longer to source the arm rest...and after I installed the seat into my 100 I discovered I didn't need the armrest anyway and thus I cancelled the arm rest special order.

Knowing what I know now I would have opted for the Expert, which is identical to the Specialist with these two differences: 1) The side bolsters are adjustable for fine tuning upper body side-to-side fit and 2) the Expert can not be fitted with the arm rest...which in the end after I accumulated real world knowledge about same :D, for me, wasn't a deal breaker.

I did buy the optional adjustable/inflatable lumbar support...and glad I did. Oh yeah...the Expert has an optional two bladder lumbar support for even more support adjustment. Next time ;)

This is great. You've saved me a bunch of money because I was going to try the opti. I will save up some cash and get the expert M. I'm planning on the grey fabric model.
Thanks again

Don't know what city you are in but I suggest finding a local Recaro dealer/custom shop, if possible, and trying them out before you commit. Even though the seats we're discussing have flatter bottoms and less aggressive bolsters there just isn't much margin for error/miss-fitting.

Decided to try a slightly wider tire with a little more void area but still an AT: Cooper S/T MAXX 305/75R18. Although no real dirt time yet I'm getting close to 1,000 miles, mostly highway, and they sure are smooth and comfortable. Time will tell the rest of the story ;)

How are those Coopers working out? Had them in rain yet?

So far so good. Performed very well in Death Valley; rocks, washboard, etc. Had them in the rain and no issues. The one little complaint, and I've not found the perfect tire yet ;), they will develop flat spots if sitting for days on end. But typically gone after a couple miles. Not sure why as this is a hold over from bias-ply days...but this complaint is shared among other Cooper tire owners.

But I really like the extra width, floatation and sidewall to wheel distance.
