wow snook great rig; I would love that water set up, what did you finally decide for water storage?? also what piping are you using to run from the front engine compartment to the back section? and also how did you secure them?

mickldo had a set up with a tank behind the rear seats but you and i both still use the back section to much to cut off the part of the truck. hey what about a gerry can set up on an external wheel carrier?

here is apic of his tank; he got it from oppsit lock

Snook: When you did your frnot bumper nip tuck, did your max lift height increase because of the little bit of weight you lost from chopping up the bumper??

Thjanks

Before and after height remained the same after I gained some inches around my waist during this nip tuck process.

Actually oddly switching from the metal rope to nylon rope seems to have more impact on the height than trimming some metal off the front bumper.

Cheers,

Front shackles are very useful.

Yes they are, hence once reason why I'm going with Slee front/rear bumpers. Recovery points are key.

I have decided to replace the original clamp with dual clamps to reduce the spare tire swinging arm vibration on my rear bumper. On the bumpy road, the vibration has got so bad that my steering wheel was moving back and forth a bit!

The last modification I made was adding webs and bolts at both side of the rear bumper wings but it barely make the difference.

My spare tire 315 Toyo did put lots of mass on the swinging arm since it weight around 105 lbs.

And the original clamp need to be unlocked before the trailer hitch can be open.

Looks great Jay! Placing the clamps vertically should help indeed!

Snook, do you have rubber stoppers anywhere on the arms?

Snook, do you have rubber stoppers anywhere on the arms?

Yes, there is a stoppers at one third of the arm length, out of the photo sight, but unlike Slee's rubber stopper, it is original bare metal stoppers. The new stainless steel base has to be low profile due to the position of opened tailgate.

Jay, just curious, why didn't you use plastic (UHMW) as a separator instead of the bolt heads?

I would be more than happy to send you some of that plastic (UHMW) material to use rather than the bolts. I have a ton of it laying around and you wont need much. PM me your address and I will send it to you over the weekend. Attached is a pic of the thickness of the plastic padding I have. I will send you more than you need so you will have some extra to play with...
