Where are you getting this information from? I had a chat with the VP of public relations for REI about 15 years ago regarding this when a member of the Yankee Toys started to threaten the GCLC, and it was a false rumor.

The director of blue ribbon coalition on a recent podcast. I believe the climate at rei has changed over the last 15 years.

REI feels that Off roading either in "jeeps" or atvs are not what exploring nature is about... I had a lovely talk with a few folks at the REI in columbia about that... said i was destroying nature by doing it.
I still bought my items and left.

They have given Southern Utah wilderness alliance a bunch of money and they are sueing for the closure of miles of trails and dispersed camping in Moab and pine mountain. This isn't the only example. They also give to the Sierra club and (formerly ) the wilderness society, both of which believe the only acceptable means of wild land access is by foot. Or sometimes not by humans at all.

Interesting, given that REI sells losts of MTB's and MTB gear as well as RTT's. Also they feature 4x4's in their ads.

Public face vs company deeds

Lots of companies do the same

Levi's projects the American blue collar image yet is actually supportive of anti 2a rights

Can I introduce you to Ariat jeans? I had been a life long Levis wearer since grade school, I just switched over to Ariat a year ago and I won't ever look back. I'm done with Carhartt too. They fired anyone who refused to get a covid shot. The Levi's and Carhartt I have left will be worn for working on greasy trucks then thrown away.

Ariat stuff looks nice...just down in Nashville a few weeks ago and got my grand-baby to be a pair of mini boot booties and my 2 year old grand daughter some Ariat "stompers"...she loves them!

Heck yeah!!

When are you planning on getting there?

I am planning on Thursday early to mid afternoon and Paul asked me to save a spot nextdoor for him when her arrives
I was thinking of doing the BBQ ground venison Mac and cheese that I made 2 years ago on Thursday night and Paul said he will make cornbread in his oven

Friday we can have the kabobs and street corn

What do we want to do on Saturday? Ideas?

Registered at 0340 and was 102 of 105.
On the ORV issue BTW the damage from the side by sides this year at Taskers gap has been epic. Not only did they continue with the damage we saw this spring but have now enlarged the areas they have tore up.

Planning on Thursday afternoon arrival myself...is there a "desired" camp area to be in for you veterans of the crawl? I didn't see any way to pre register for a camp space, so is it first come first served for the weekend?

Thanks for your thoughts...and happy to contribute some tasty treats to a meal or meals for this one!

I don't want two year old venison. 😂

I didn't look for this year but in the past, dinner was provided on Saturday.

last year there were hamburgers provided but that was because they were supposed to have been for the swap meet... that didnt happen. Normally it is happy hour that is provided drinks not food

We’ll all be in the same area but it’s a free for all with no defined camp spots. I’d recommend getting there while the sun is up to scope out a spot that fits your needs. Whether you want to be next to others or more to yourself, by some trees or out in the open. There are two sets of pit toilets, so that may be taken into consideration if you’re bringing a +1.

I think we are going to do hamburgers again. It was a big hit last year. We will vote in it next meeting.
