I think I saw you guys going thru Teslin, YT last night, but I wasn't driving the cruiser, so you probably just wondered why some goofy guy in a van was waving at you in the middle of BFN :D

I spotted you.

We arrived in Fort St. John about an hour ago. Man is that stretch between Ft Nelson and FSJohn boring (maybe 'cause I've driven it too many times for work). Anyway, trip home was uneventful. Played tourists and stopped at all the places we spotted on the way up.

Will post up more later but for now I'm off to enjoy one of my last American Cokes.

The 74 handled everything we threw at it - including a lot of mud which it often threw back!

A proper expedition rig fueling up after some time in the bush...

Good times!

I wish I was there...:frown:

Hopefully I can get involved with an expedition next year.

Great build Bruce!!! Let us know what you thought of the tires.

Oh, trust me, those tires work far too well at slinging mud. Ask me how I know :rolleyes:;)

Think open window, just the right about of steering input and a bucket's worth of nice peaty muck all over the passenger side dashboard, a camera and oh yeah, Charla's lap and face. :crybaby:

Mark...

Oh, there has got to be pictures of that!! post up!!

;p

Actually no, there weren't because as Mark mentioned the camera got dumped on... But you never know, the tourists driving by seeing me change my clothes on the side of the road may've taken some.

I was actually thinking about when I was helping with the winch cable at one point. Bruce was stuck and he kept revving the tires and great big globs of muskeg kept flying at me. Think he nailed me two times with muck before I turned around, grabbed some mud and threw it at the DS windshield. IIRC, Mark saw the later part of that ordeal..

:grinpimp:

I realize this looks like mud...

but it is actually the result of a chocolate pudding food fight. - Yummy !

you don't feel scary off road ( up hills ) with this roof tent .?

Side hills suck, for sure. I think the people who followed were more freaked out than me though. I keeled it over quite a bit a few times but the Alaskan gravity is friendly to Land Cruisers. Honestly, 135 lbs on the roof of a 6500lb rig doesn't make that big of a difference.

Looks like from outside .. but your numbers talk .. If you gotta rolled ( knock wood ) you would do with or without ..

Well, welcome home and congrats for making it there and back with a thoroughly untested rig!
Looking forward to the debriefing and hearing what did and didn't work. Looks like it was an amazing trip!

jealous, jealous, jealous...:D

I'm with Norm about the what worked and what didn't.
Hey Bruce, how did you like your rolling drawers?
Cheers,
Deny

Since Bruce is blatantly ignoring you and Norm (because he heard what you said about him) I'll answer your question re: the drawers.

The drawers kicked ass. This is the first time that I haven't had to rummage around in the back of one of his trucks wasting all sorts of my precious time in an attempt to find something only to realize an hour later that it never was packed in the first place. Also the first time I haven't been scared that I was going to get beaned in the temple with a cresent wrench or tire iron. It made it a lot easier to organize everything...allowing for more time to be spent relaxing, swatting at skitters.

Hi All:

Charla, so is Bruce in the ICU or what? We have not heard from him in over a week!

Looking for moer details about how the rig did on the big Alaska trip!

Regards,

Alan
