Thanks to @Tex68w for starting this thread and to @teejnut, @MTNLIVIN, @Leelanau for your contributions. I really appreciate all of your help and am happy you all like the skids!

When I designed these, I had a few requirements I wanted to meet for higher speed desert driving:
  • Better impact protection from a hard hit from the front
  • A shallow skid plate angle to help deflect those impact forces (20º angle)
  • Light weight
  • No loss of ground clearance
  • Easy oil changes
  • Easy one-person install/removal
  • No cutting, welding, or drilling required
  • Make it out of non-rusting materials
  • All parts fit into a 30x30x10 box
The skid plate thickness is 3/16" thick. I may offer the plates in stainless steel in the same thickness to those interested in hardcore rock crawling. These would mount to the same sub-frame. The weight would increase to around 120lbs, cost more, and I probably would have to ship in multiple boxes.

As the four members and I installed these on a range of 200s (LC and LX) from 2009 to 2020. I would consider it a successful prototype.
There are a couple minor tweaks that will be made, but overall I'm quite happy with how they came out.

I'm going to figure out a way to get a pre-order list going on the site without charging the full amount. Something like a $100 fully refundable deposit to get on the list.

I'll let you know here, when that is added to the site.

Thanks!
Does it work with 2008?

I’ll hang out purchasing it for a little bit, if anyone has one in good condition I’ll buy it. Let me know whatcha got.
I’m doing skids soon and will have one if you’re interested. You can have it free just pay for shipping

Sheeet, I greatly appreciate the offer! Unfortunately I already ordered the part along with the 4 new bolts.

I am tagging this . Are we waiting for 15 orders to start production? I hope for a nice large easy access oil filter hole. I hate the stock set up

Here's a pic. I'm sure @turbo8 can tell you the dimensions.

Thanks . That is perfect. Ordered

I believe he said he was willing to make that opening even larger if the masses requested it as well.

I was waiting on 10 and will get 15 made. I have 8 now.

I made the updates and in talks with my suppliers.

I'm hoping to get them going by the end of the week, even though I don't have 10.

Thanks for all the pre-orders and the help from the early adopters!

Correct, it probably is already the largest opening on the market. I can make it bigger, if everyone wants that.

Any thoughts on whether gravel and sand will build up on top of the plates or are there provisions for that stuff to drain/shake out?

I had mine off to do fluid swaps. Here are pics of mine after three weeks of driving up and down ranch roads at 40 mph nearly every day, two beach trips, and a few days of rain. Pretty clean all things considered, the only place where things seem to collect is at the rear transmission cross member but I wouldn't call that "dirty".

I'll check mine out tonight. I just did a bunch of driving around Tahoe this weekend during the blizzard as well as driving around in a bunch of dirty slush.

Didn't have the time to drop the skids but was able to get some pictures of the transmission area. Looks pretty clean considering what I drove through.

One other thought.. an optional additional panel of some kind to block the gap behind the stock front bumper that exposes the lower radiator would be awesome. The stock splash guards have a forward section that keeps sticks and things out of this area. Most skids leave it wide open..
