Great write up - the toughest part is the door bezel. Everything else is pretty straightforward. Thanks!

Bringing this thread back to life since I recently took off my PS door panel to inspect a shoddy door speaker installation my local "sound specialist" performed when they installed my entire system. I noticed it was a little difficult to remove that square cover (shown in the pic below; taken from unknown source but it's not from a LC) that hides the bolt behind it that is needed to completely remove the door panel. After prying at it for some time it finally popped off and I discovered the "sound specialist" had improperly removed it and broke the tabs that hold it in place. During reassembly he proceeded to use hot glue to put it back in place thinking I wouldn't find out:mad: Anyways, I'm usually pretty good at searches on here and finding pn's for all kinds of things but I can't seem to find a single pn for this little square cover..?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Search on Toyota Part No.: 69283-30040-A0, but I think the part may be superseded (if true, then just have to change the last number from a zero to a 1 or a 2).

Here's one website
that shows the part
For a great many LC parts you can find the part number, name, quantity required, etc., from a listing I created I think back in 2015 for the 2000 LX470 - if interested download here.

Anyone have a part number for the plastic panel rivets in Post #2?

For my grey interior LX, it's 90467-07066-P2, I bought a bunch weeks ago but haven't installed them yet.

They are superseded. I replaced all four a while back. I used two each of 69283-30040-A1 and 69284-30040-A1, but I don't recall which was left or right.

Thanks for the great writeup! Just took the panel off to repair the grill cloth on my '98 and everything was smooth (except I did screw up the little cover on the door handle). I usually find some part of the process is way more difficult than stated, but this was perfect!

Anyone have tips on removing the door switch panel for LX rear seat doors (both)? They are a lot tougher to remove than the fronts, without damaging the plasti-leather material because the spring clips are really low so you have to do a lot of prying before you can get to the spring to release it.

I usually pry up the back a bit....find each side clip and pop it in and up slightly...not much and leave a small screwdriver placed in there. I go to to front and slide another screwdriver in to lift it up in front. Then I use another screwdriver to catch the clip and pull back slightly on the cover. I've found sometimes they pop right off and other times just takes a bit of patience.

The front clip can sometimes get hung up on the loose material hanging on the inside.

Not much of a tip but that's what I do. Sometimes it takes about a minute fiddling with the front clip.

Agreed, this is pretty similar to what I'm doing wrangling with it but it just doesn't seem like such a clean procedure that a dealership would do if I were to imagine it. There's got to be a cleaner simpler way of just popping those off.

FYI on the door lock bezel removal. Use a small flat-head or trim removal tool and go through the inside of the bezel just above the lock to pry it loose.

*Obviously, be sure that screw in the image below is removed first.

Thanks! Window slipped off the track in the front somehow and would not go up. Popped it back in and gave the track a yank or two with the window up to make sure it was seating the window tightly. Write up is great, saved me some time and broken clips, etc.

I was not successful at this. On the DS I broke the rear clip off, on the PS I was trying to be more careful and broke the front clip off. Darn!

On the driver door, our chrome is de-laminating and it is sharp as heck! Where to get a replacement? I was looking here and all they list is the passenger (R) door:

Lock & Hardware for 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser | Toyota Parts

You gotta go to Lexus for chrome...
