Looks like you have a large following of diesel heads and in my case wannabe diesel heads.
Interested to hear the results.
ok. deal. I will get you a time tomorrow on my way out to camp. Fully loaded, roof rack, 3 bikes, two kids and two adults with 1/2 turn fuel screw!
I am still a diesel wannabe! Want more power diesel wannabe! Hope you like and if you get the chance.... my brother-in-law is now just outside of SLC and has a really nice 13BT powered FJ62 that we did a 5 speed swap on. He is attending the Wasatch Cruiser Club meetings. Wealth of knowlege when it comes to diesels! He goes by CaptainCaveman here on mud.

I will have to watch for him
You're talking me up dirt! Truth be told, I have a lot to learn, especially about some of the turbo ratios. I'd be glad to share what I know though.
I went to the local meet and greet at Hires Big H, and would love to catch the trail run this weekend but it looks like I've got a schedule conflict.
Damn Sexy!
I would love to see both your rigs in person
Awesome results!
I ran mine down a drag strip recently. Did a 19.7 @ 67mph. You would definitely beat me unloaded if you did 0-60 in 17 seconds under the conditions you stated.
Nice work and beautiful photos! Nice to see shots of the exterior again![]()
Clint,
Just stopped by to see what was new with you and the Silver Surfer.
Looks great man! A person couldn't ask for a sweeter setup! If your planning on attending Cruise Moab next year, maybe I'll see you there, as I hope to make it again!![]()
Ok Clint,
You've been running the new turbo for a while, so how about some impressions of how it spools up for us wannabe big turbo guys?
Also, how does the sound deadening work that you did? I am about ready to start some on mine and would like to know how yours does for overall noise reduction?
Thanks,
Don
nice rig. i am motivated and well informed. nice build!
Without having done the hood and firewall yet, the largest sound deadening effect I have found was from doing the entire floor. Slather that thing and it will be noticeable. Do a layer, rap on the floor with your knuckles and add another layer to anything that makes a hollow/vibrating kind of sound (you will know it when you hear it). Add a layer of closed cell foam with spray on glue, then add another layer of deadener.
I am expecting huge returns when I do that approach to both sides of the firewall. Going to be tearing into the wagon soon and completely removing and redoing a lot of the dash.
Doors/fenders/tailgate didn't seem to make a noticeable difference to me.
just my .02
CLINT- I want to hear more about the progression with leak fixing and turbo adventures!
He was up on our Xmas tree run yesterday and the motor (not including the exhaust which is a bit noisy at low rpm/idle) sounded really nice.. buttery rattle like a 13B-T IMO, not like a harsh tractor rattle. It was way better than how it sounded on our back country run but he mentioned turbo-related things loose or leaking that had been fixed to get it sounding better.
This rig is soooo damn cool...I'm truly envious. Happy holidays, and I look forward to seeing the next update!
