Time will tell. But before you get too excited, the frame stretch, canopy build and associated paint and body work is approx. 30-40K. That price does NOT include the powertrain, suspension, interior, or canopy internals, electrical/battery management, RTT etc.... If anything, I might offer a frame extension kit and the canopy box itself if things go as planned. Not to mention buying two cruisers or at least an extra 80 donor frame.

Right now with many details still to figure out, the potential customer and I are at 70K on this build. Lots of details and custom work. His budget is around the 75-80K mark. So, we'll see what happens, until the check cashes....It's still mine and I will proceed buying things that I want for the build.

J

Yeah, nothing custom like this comes cheap, but the results will likely be best in class!

Costum... some guy in marketing swapped the letters so you wouldn’t notice as quickly...

Went to see a 60 today and man was it a POS... one of the rustiest 60s (well any car for that matter) I've seen in a long time. So, still on the hunt for a 60 shell. I've see 5-60s and 2- 40s since moving to CA and all are rotted to hell. Must be rigs brought here from elsewhere and abandoned... YIKES.

Ordered a spare 17 x 9 wheel and all the locking slides for the internal drawers today.

Need to decide on latches for a couple of drawers. T-handle or lever latches. I like the lever latches and they are flat compared to an exposed t-handle.

All the aluminum tube was ordered Friday for the canopy frame, sliders, roof racks and misc other items.

Deciding on the RedArc system, solar panel and misc other items.

Buying parts is the fun and easy part so far, HA!

The 80 series- HF2A transfer case will be sent to @orangefj45 aka Georg (Valley Hybrids) for a rebuild/seal and I'll be looking at re-gearing the T/C for optimal performance as well. This will be mated to the 4L65E transmission.

Since the dash will be re-constructed I think I'll try and run the shifter up into the dash area instead of into the standard floor location. Similar to the old Corvair location.

I cancelled my order with SpeedHut on the initial idea gauges.... Looking at the Dakota Digital now.

Smack, glad I found this post, J!
Sounds interesting, especially with the private-jet-interior and seats, how big will the cab and rearseat area be?

And and and how good are those rear doors you won't need? I neeed!

This thread is fun - even though for us right now it's mostly just anticipation. Poppy was sorta interesting in the beginning, but this is gunna be like NetFlix - "let's turn on the channel & see what's up today!"

Sounds like the perfect rig and you are the man to do it. Not sure about aluminum sliders however, but with what this is gonna cost and the clearance, it's unlikely they will get used. My TT bumper is due for more paint but Moab hasn't damaged it or what it protects yet. Thanks again and looking forward to see progress on this.

Looking forward to the build!!!!!

I have two FJ62 body donors here. They’re not perfect but if you need sheet metal to fix yours ..... come and get it. I’ll make you s great deal.

And I’ll be more than happy to build the Tcase for ya!

This is gonna be some real fun to watch!

Cab will be the same size as a regular 60 from the back of the rear seat forward. I'll get pics of everything I plan to sale once the donor rig is here and everything is disassembled.

Poppy is still alive and well. Hopefully she'll be in to finish the paint and body in the next few weeks. Nothing to exciting about a pretty much stock re-build.

I'll have pics flowing on Dingo in a few weeks.

Thanks G,

Looks like I may need a couple of doors and misc other sections. I'll have the TC down soon and I'll send you a list of what I need.

See you soon,

Sliders with be .250" wall rectangle tube and if my calcs are correct about 30-31" off the ground. Maybe a bit higher since the rocker skins are cut out. I don't plan on crawling in the rocks with this rig. Full camper.

Well I hope so. Lots of details and it already feels good to have a spare project in the mix to break up the regular work monotony.

Thanks to the bump from @Tennessee80 The donor body has been purchased. I'll get it picked up in a week or two when our schedules mesh.

I'll get a few other panels from @3_puppies (if he has them) to replace/repair the donor. If not, I'll source elsewhere.

Looks like I'll have a nice rear tailgate and upper liftgate for sale soon too.

let me know what you need and I'll see if I can help. keep me in mind on the tailgate, good ones are getting tougher to find.
