Did the Paradise Loop in the King Range outside of Shelter Cove today. And a warm-up loop with my wife, called Courtyard, we've been married 31 years today.

Mark, Strava is more than 'KOM' and who rode what segment fastest, it's a tool, the data is cool, shows how many miles you've ridden total, plus on what bike. I use it to keep track of components as well. Like how many miles I get out of a chain.

I also like seeing what people are riding and where, there are rides I've 'discovered' by seeing it on Strava.

That said, as soon as someone starts spewing $hit, be it political or just ranting, I immediately unfollow them. Keep it about the ride and riding.

First - CONGRATS!! Wife and I celebrated our 31st a few weeks ago. Quite the accomplishment in today's "disposable/throw away" society.

Next - I wholeheartedly agree with you about Strava - I use it to log miles/climbing, keep honest with riding thru the monthly challenges, track bike component wear/maintenance, and find potential new places to ride. Nice to see what friends are up to as well. I also log my hikes, kayak paddles, and ski days I remember to start it. Just about staying active and keeping track of it. I'm well past chasing KOM's, but nice to see if my weekly spin on a favorite route really was faster/slower - or just in my head.

Lastly - did a nice 48.9 miler over to Squaw on Wednesday, and planning a trip over to the Rubicon trailhead in the next few days as I get ready to head back to our vacation home in Redding for some warmer weather while I wait for enough snow to ski.

Like any tool... it's important to use it correctly...

I attribute strava to a major change in trail courtesy in my area... everyone is chasing their own KOM's and times, no one wants to stop and chat with their buddy.

That's the biggest change I have seen in the past 20 years of riding mtb.

I road my local trail system today, did 13 miles and enjoyed some blue skies. Ran into a few friends that aren't strava heads, got to talk about bikes and it was nice :)

Got a quick spin on my favorite "in town" route between getting the house ready for Winter and packing up to head back to Redding for a few weeks of warmer weather. 32 miles/2900' climbing (Spooner Summit and Fairview).

Again - Strava is what you make of it...at 55yrs old, I don't chase KOM's. I do enjoy logging/tracking my rides and miles....as well as keeping up on maintenance, since I have a nice stable of bikes (I'm of the "n+1" mentality). I've found some great routes (mainly a roadie) when vacationing by checking out Strava (or MapMyRide or Garmin Connect). Everyone has an opinion....I was just trying to make it "easier" for us to have our latest ride posted/seen by others.

Ive been using my local trails as active recovery from weightlifting, since i havent been able to get out of town as much to ride real trails. Been working out pretty well. Jealous of you guys who have actual trails as your local trails, instead of glorified hiking paths for the elderly that you just so happen to ride bikes on.

I like Strava because it helps me keep up with friends a family I don't live near. It's cool to see how my rides compare to previous ones after the fact, and can be motivation to get out there more. I don't think about it at all out on the trail other than to press record on my watch. I'm not going fast enough to be worrying about my segment times in comparison to anyone else, lol

I unfortunately hadn't gotten to ride for a few months, but within the last three weeks I was able to ride Ruidoso, Glorieta, Moab, and Phil's World in Cortez. It's so good to get back on the trail 🙂

Felt good - having fun hitting some old favorite routes while back in Redding for a bit...started raining a few minutes after I got home.

Love seeing these photos Onur! Sadly I'm nearing the time to hang up my bike for the Winter...Looks like your new bike is working out!

Chilly ride in the foothills (~20 miles), should have went skiing, but only two lifts are open and it's mostly groomers, think I'll wait for more snow before I hang up the bike. Cold enough that my suspension didn't want to work.

31 mile ride down to Newport back bay then back up thru Laguna Beach yesterday.

Being retired now getting hooked on riding. Ebike so far but looking at getting a nice road bike.
Watch your charge on your ebike...went out with my wife for a spin yesterday and she had forgot to charge after our 23miler the other day...had to cut it short as her power meter indicated 34% and only 15miles available. Love the way the pedal assisted bikes get "non-riders" out there spinning - just need to make sure you have your battery charged (not that different than my electric shifting drivetrains - remember to check the charge or deal with a single-speed to get home).

Thx, I'm some what OCD and watch my battery like a hawk! I plug it in after every ride, even the 22 miles today. Pedaling a 55 lb bike w/o pedal assist is a b!tch.
