Common sense hasnt been a part of the edumacation system for a long long long time...if it were, they would bring back home economics (where you learned to balance a checkbook, how simple interest loans, credit cards, and mortgages work, etc), shop classes(where you learned all that stuff we on this site take for granted), health classes (remember them scary "health" films where they checked for cancer, childbirth, etc???), and other stuff students SHOULD know before they get out of high school and hit the real world.

Heck, my drivers ed class in florida was 2 semesters (1/2 year). At least 20% of that time was spent watching those grisly accident scene films, some fake, and others wayyyyy tooo real. Unfortunately, instructors each year would remind students of a fellow classmate who either bought the farm, injured, or killed someone else, and described the accident in as much detail as their cop friends would provide. Because Local deputies and police officers came in several times a semester to speak to us, they knew most of the students, and knew who they should keep an eye on (cough cough cough)... They also knew the parents phone numbers, and werent afraid to call them when they saw a student driving like a racecar driver (cough cough cough). Our school (along with all the other high schools in the county) had 6 cars the county leased (ours were all GM products, all front wheel drive..cavaliers, celebrities, and a lumina mpv), one was a manual transmission. We had our own course that was beside our football field. It had regular parking, parallel parking, angle parking, signs, roads, etc. Once you mastered the course in the car with the instructor (they had dual controls), then you did the course on your own. Then you got to hit the road with the instructor. Having had two older sisters that went there, I used to spend weekends driving that course in my gocart. I must have done 1000 miles on that course on the cart, before i started driving it in our family cars at age 11.

About a decade after I graduated, they went to a similar system that NC uses with private instructors, and bulldozed the road course for a larger football practice facility...Priorities....priorities

Also funny that some people moved and did not say a word to the others. ;<)

Sometimes you just let natural selection work.

What is this "checkbook" that you speak of? Is this a new App?

Every wrench turner should have 4 stout jack stands that can support at least twice the weight of their rig combined. I can't imagine the agony of being crushed to death or trapped for hours under a truck.

They are expensive, sure. Some things are just plain worth the investment.

When I was in CA working on the B-2/F-35/etc. program, when we needed to destroy CD's with classified information on them, we'd go to the break area and nuke the CD for a few seconds in the microwave.

You don't really need that button. The key is to take it out when it's slowed to 2-3 minutes between press releases.

Ahh huh, "pop secret"
