That one picture is the one I needed last week. I mounted my body on and 80 frame last week and was looking for a shot with an angle like that to see the transition from bed to cab. Looks like I got it right just by eyeballing it.

I think this is not a custom built HZJ79. Is complete factory HZJ79 just without the front mud guard. Am I right???

No. It is very similar to a factory HZJ79 but it includes major parts from at least three different trucks and has many improvements that would not be possible without starting from scratch.

Any projected finish date? That's going to be so sweet. A photo collage of the project could be valuable in itself.

No projection. They are pretty bogged down. That's fine, this project is about quality, not speed.

My guess though: a couple months. It should speed up quite a bit now that the engine is in and the body mostly on.

Wow Yoop, that thing is bad ass.
I remember you mentioning it but didn't realize you had a build thread. Awesome.

Keeping the splits?

Kind of.

The split rims are only 6" wide, so I'll be using a set of them in the winter with 235/85R16 Nokian Hakkapeliitta LTs.

Proffitt's found me five new non-split 16"x7" OEM steelies and I'm putting 255/85R16 BFG KM2s on those for summer. :)

So jealous..

yep, any day now I will be winning the lotto big and proffitts might be getting a phone call....
I do prefer the older 79 though....

Got a pic or a part number for the 16" non split steelies by any chance?

In my pics above I think those shop rollers might be a mix of splits and non splits. They are pretty similar in appearance. No part number, but Grease Cruiser will know.

I like the front bumper concept. You might consider enclosing some of those empty holes to prevent debris from entering or being thrown forward off your tires. I think it looks a little better to. (JMO).
Also, extend the ends just a bit to ensure proper corner protection.
