hate to hear you won't be making this one matt; hope to see you on the trails soon

Bill it might just be easiest for you to follow some up Sat. because finding the road up to the Sugar Creek gap Friday night in the dark will be quite challenging as it is un marked; just ask Marshall how it went last time for him :D

It's not that hard Bill - shoot me a PM if you want additional detail.

I am undecided on arrival time myself and won't know until the end of the week.

Hmmm - looking at the weather I wonder if it might snow at higher elevations?

friday is looking nasty a cold raw rain:frown:....... but Sat./Sun. should turn out to be rather nice just a little chilly lows Sat. night in the low 20's BBBRRRRR :D

I believe the best chance of wintry precipation will be thrusday night into early friday morning and most likely that will be freezing rain along the eastern escarpment blue ridge due to the cold air daming...... the higher elevations will be warmer than the lower valleys due to the over riding warm air. So I wouldn't get to excited about snow this time around

......... although it is snowing up in the mountains currently; this is near maggie valley currently

Dang! Listen to Mr. Meteorologist!:D good thing you are bringing the 80.

I saw the weather maps this morning and I am glad I'll be in the cabin Friday night.

After almost losing my tent last time during the gale force windstorm, I fabbed up a platform for the hundy so I can do luxo-camping (edit - nothing like in that FJC link! Those are more like artwork)... Going to be nice to crank the heat up for a change!

Tested out the full size mattress. Perfect fit! Ohhh baby! Won't be much like "40" camping this time through.

BRING ON THE COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've gotta 0 degree bag and I will only endulge. I welcome it and can't wait to embrace it. The nastier, the better!!!!

Those are indeed lovely. But bottom line is even corner to corner the back of an FJC is not long enough for me to sleep in.
Plus I have a real job. When I'm not there I don't do any more work than is necessary to keep everything running and keep the girl unit happy.
When one comes along that includes leaving the front seat at home and making a real bed down the starboard cabin then I might start a woodwork project.

So thats what I heard when I was snoozeing in the back of the 80 on my cot with the tent heater cranked up!

Looks like the weather forcast is getting better. Calling for the rain to end Sat morning. Hoping it will get even better than that. Lows still around 30 at night. So make sure you have good gear to handle that. Also trails will be muddy (calling for over 2" rain tomorrow and Friday). Remember if you have recovery gear bring it. Will make things a lot easier if we don't have to search for stuff way down the line. Probably a good time to roll out winches and make sure they are in good order. Tighten lug nuts, go through the cruiser looking for things that need attention. Bring extra boots. Something tell me your gonna need them.

Those staying at the cabin one or two nights. Bring a sleeping bag and maybe a sheet and a couple pillow cases. The beds are nice but I don't want to have to wash sheets all day Sunday. Also bring your own towels. Your on your own as far a food. BUt there is a full assortment of pans and cooking things there.

Good times.

possibility of being absent ladies and fellas. we'll see what outweighs what b/t studying and wheeling. Thermo and Fluids are needin a bit of attention, but I SO wanna go regardless of weather. The nastier, the better for me, atleast for stories anyway.
