Cruiser limo anyone?

We put our 6" heavy springs on it, but alas, it was not enough. Need some more. As for driving, once you get used to the turning radius not too bad. It did remarkably well at Pismo. We thought it would get stuck as soon as we left the beach, but it did not. Never needed a pull.

I was driving the green 80 that tried the hill climb after you guys. I don't think I made it up as far as you did.

Just because Ben has the most hours driving it does not make him a professional. Would a pro driver do this?
:)

He just took it to KOH in Cali from Denver. This happened 10 miles outside Denver. Heater hose to the rear sprung a leak going up I-70. Leaked all the coolant and overheated. There was no space to pull over so he had to drive it up the hill with the temp gauge pegged. Filled her up and drove her to Cali and back. We are torture testing the 1FZ. The slight knock from the scored cylinder wall is a little louder now :) However she is still going, but sooner or later the Dachshund is going to give it's last bark!

This is normally not a good sign!

Or will you be performing the 4.7L transplant that you have teased us with over the last year?

I need a limo for my wedding in the Summer, that would be perfect! To bad you are so far away.

I heard the new Duramax was gonna be offered as a crate motor which might mean that doing a transplant from a wreck with the smaller Duramax may be less cumbersome than the big duramax. The small ones still make gobs of power and torque without much modification and were developed to fit in smaller trucks.

Slee, you know I am a totally Toyota guy, but I think with a truck this big you would need at least a supercharged 4.7L, I have heard that the 5.7 is going to be a huge expense not to mention the size makes it hard to fit between the frame rails of most Land Cruisers. I hate to say it but maybe look at the 6.2 L Vortec 6200 (RPO L92)? 400hp 415ft/lbs stock.

Screw that, this thing should stay with its roots. Keep the 1FZ. It's not a race car. Keep that forklift motor working hard. Supercharged at most but no way you should transplant any V8s in there.

You should bring it to a truck stop to weigh it though. That I am very curious.

It's a little pricier than a single turbo set-up, but if you have a really heavy rig that needs some pep high cost may be a welcome sacrifice. Why not run a compound set-up? A close to stock 1FZFE motor (already there) would benefit nicely from that arrangement (1000hp or so over a very broad curve) and there's definitely room for it.
