I’m still waiting on the first one to wear out.29 years to the day. These are parts that really ought to have been changed by now
Thank you everyone for posting this. I was feeling guilty, maybe also a bit like an addict for hoarding boxes of parts from 4-5 years ago. But now I see I'm not so unusual and I can continue on buying parts and thinking about installing them...someday.![]()

Well I added this little NOS part to my collection of uninstalled parts. Call it packrat insurance for my 93. Or maybe just so I could pretend to be half as cool as @cruiserdan

Dammit -- no one told me that.Original box with intact part number label and picktag or it doesn't count.

I doubt it. Mechanics generally rip the boxes open and toss them in the dumpster before they even start the job.Yeah, that OEM packaging did not come with mine. Maybe @powderpig was holding it back from me-- he knew where the real money was.

Mine currently is in a heavyweight bag shipped that way from dealer. Came in box though. Bag has the part number I believe . Box was just Toyota box with that and few other items. Think it was Stevenson Toyota in Denver where I bought fromMine was shipped in a box, un-bagged but wrapped in bubble wrap (refer to post #28 above). It was shipped to my dealership (by "my dealership" I say this because I was the Parts Manager at that dealership). I ordered it on October 6th 2014. If his harness was older than mine it is possible that it was shipped in a heavy weight clear plastic bag with the part number label on the outside of the bag. Most large harnesses were boxed, but not always.
That would be an "over-pack" box. Usually what was referred to as a "15-15-30". 15 inches wide x 15 inches high x 30inches long.Box was just Toyota box with that and few other items. Think it was Stevenson Toyota in Denver where I bought from
This exact thing happened to me except instead of resistors and LEDs it was 2 year old cocaine…. It still workedMy wife would tell you that I have issues. Several of them in fact. One of the biggest is that I plan to do something but don't actually get around to do it. I usually get started--- but then don't finish.
Some evidence--I was recently cleaning up my garage and found several parts that I have purchased for my 80 but never got around to installing on said 80.
Example 1: New cigarette lighter I purchased from @cruiserdan in 2010.
Example 2: LED lights I purchased from @george_tlc in 2010
Example 3: Resistors for the temp sensor mod I purchased from @medtro in 2007
I am sure there are more.
Can anyone beat that?
If so, we should start a support group.
