Depending on how busy I am I'd love to make this trip and visit some friends at Western Carolina.

Well I have secured the cabin. I have two dates reserved. Will make the final decision on dates early next week. It looks to be the third or 4th weekend in feb right now.

House has 3 bedrooms. One queen down, a full and two doubles up. There will be plenty of places to crash. Anyone wanting to pitch a tent can. Plenty of room for vehicles.

I will post directions and a new thread once we finalize a date.

Are these trails suitable for a stock 80 riding on Michelins w/ f&r lockers? If so, I'm in!

yes they are we have taken many stock cruisers through the trails there, the worst obstacles you will face is overhanging over growth that tends to cause "east coast" pin stripping...........

hope this helps, and hope we see you out there

When would be the latest you would need to know an answer? If things go right and I have a Cruiser by then, it'd be a great opportunity to see what it/I'm made of.

Also, if I go, I might be able to help on the trail that links to Franklin. Or at least knowing where we are when we get there. Grew up there, dem's my ole stompin' grounds. :hillbilly:

NO answer needed on this trip. Were staying from Friday to Sunday. If your not at the house by the time we leave Sat morning then you will be left behind. The cabin is free to me to use anytime.

I can go on Feb 16th weekend...others I will have the boys.

too bad there's a j**p in that flier

Hahaha, i swear that house is the one where a bunch of Delta Zeta chicks lived when i was at school. I have stayed there a few times ;)

We made everything ok, I ended up taking the wifes 4runner. I should have removed the running boards, I cracked one and had a few close calls, but its completely stock except for 31" AT's and the TJM bumper. 2 TJ's went as well....we had a good time, just not enough spent on the trails.

We did get turned around and ended up at the end of the rock paved road off of Moses Creek. But found our way back to the turn we missed (a hunter was parked in it when we passed/missed it b/f). Thank goodness a friend let me borrow his GPS. The map JP showed me helped a ton as well!

We also were able to see some snow ! :) I am for sure goign to freeze my tail off in 3 weeks when our group goes up together and camps 2 nights.

I was able to go up to where we let our dogs run around b/f it was a bald but not one that I had camped on b/f. We ended up taking a few pictures there with the sunset and then headed back down and by the bottom campsite thats easy to get out and go int he mornings. (Where the apple trees are and the sweet stump chair!)

We headed back and stoped @ the UCPRIVATE and talked a little. We then split up and I headedback to the in-laws in Sunset and they headed back to G-ville.

- I have a few ?'s for next time I head up. Anyone know the GPS coordinates for the balds that we usually camp on? I was thinking of camping there, but never got over to where it was.

hmm, that could work Concrete, I am single now :)

awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Good pics, reminds me how cool that place is.

I hope we get some snow on the next trip up there!!!

I'm up for some cold weather camping or "cabinning" as it turns out. Count me in on this trip. Oh, and I'll second JPs comments on stock rigs making this run. Although A-trac is kind of like cheating :D

Once again, I'm out-buying a house and selling mine. Also bought a motorhome that I'm having some work done on, just too much crap going on for me right now.

Yeah my stock 62 did everything i needed it too.... looking back at my pics... i was losing about 2-3 inches bc my leaf springs were flat with the weight from my gear.... time for new ones.... hopefully soon mine will be lifted.

Darn, wish it was the weekend before as that is a 3 day weekend / Monday holiday at work. :crybaby:
