Sweet!!

Anyone know if there'll be a way to get the transmission/transfer case outta my truck up there, or is that asking too much? I need to try to order the part, and just trying to see if I need to rush it or not.

I'm not a 60 expert but dropping your t-case/tranny should be easier than my 55 b/c you have a detachable cross-member. I would go ahead and order the part and try to have it in time. I won't be bringing anything to work on so besides crawling under my FJC for a few minutes I'll be happy to help.

Should I bring the engine hoist?

I can bring the tranny jack. But it's not the best piece of equiptment.

I would think the best way to fix that seal would just to take the t-case off. Having never done a split case I'm not sure how hard it would be. Might be a good time to break out the fsm and do some reading. I'm gonna be doing that tonight to make sure I cover everything on the axle rebuild.

Check list:

front axle from 78 fj40
axle kit for it
splitcase t-case
1 piece t-case If I can find it
1 differential
1 front arb locker
in/lb torque wrench
ft/lb torque wrench
air hose with extensions
air tools (everything)
2 sets of jack stands
1 tranny jack
brass drifts
hammers
50mm & 54mm sockets
snap ring pliers
seal puller (note: not let JP use it)
Calipers
Cutting torch

Canopy
1 case of beer
chairs

Anyone have a fish scale we could borrow?

I'd like to come up for a bit and learn what I can, have a cpl/three beers and tell some lies. I just need to see what all I'm doing this weekend.

Called Rick at RHT and they don't have the seal (shoulda ordered when we were there ) Anyway, it won't be in until Monday, so don't worry about the tranny jack, unless someone else needs it. I'll check my fluids tonight to make sure I'm not running dry. Looks like I'll be watching/helping others this HAMOM.

Thanks!

Trying to get there on Sat. if I can get the 62 there I need to install an alt and new belts. And maybe track down a few small things.

JP bring it if you can.

will do it is already out of the cruiser just gottta load it up in the 80......... so you have a rebuild kit for a 3spd?? or is it the same kit for a 4spd and 3spd??

Am I the only one that doesn't know where I'm going? I've looked in this thread and I know it's at Alans, and that it sits at the bottom of Ceasar's Head, but that's still a big area. Got any more specifics for the newbies in the house?

276 towards ceasars head. Take left on hwy 11 then take right on hwy 8 dogwood mountain rd is on right. House is middle house gravel drive to the right leads to the tent and shop. DOn't worry about pissing the neighbors off they are all family.

trying to decide which cruiser to bring...... is anyone else going to do some scouting/wheeling on Sat. afternoon??? I really want to do some wheeling in the 40 but obviously I don't want to wheel alone; so if no one else is going to wheel I will just drive the nice cushy 80 :D

so who is on the action :grinpimp:

I talked with Scott this morning. He is going to be bringing up the steam pressure washer for us to use as well as a press. That should make our lives a lot easier. Now if I can just fit everything in my 80 we will be good to go.

I'll bring the sazaw, torch, and a couple grinders.

I've also printed out copies of the axle section of the FSM for 40's, 60's, and 80's

Anything else we need? Anyone have a sink? perferably white double bowl with a good disposal. I think that would be the only thing we are not bringing.

I am coming Friday night and staying for most of the day on Saturday. Like I mentioned above, I would like to work on replacing the Tcase/Transmission seal, but not sure if that'd be possible. Also, would like to get some experienced eyes on my Cruiser to help identify the stumbling around 2000 rpms. Want to at least watch the axle rebuild for future reference.

I'll drink just about anything  is preferred :grinpimp:

If your replacing the seal, you might as well do clutch/bearing while its out...I lowered my tranny/transfer from the topside instead of using a tranny jack.

Wish I could make this one but traveling toooooo much lately.
