I just heard a rumor that if true it might lead to me changing the direction of the relic run. But a coworker told me that there is a new land owner for the coke ovens, and the new owner of the coke ovens plans on opening it back up for off road use. Like I said if that is the case we might do the coke ovens instead of Cochran

Coke Ovens is a more challenging run than you had posted earlier - just sayin'

if you go to the Coke Ovens first and then cross the river, the return will be on the easy side

Thanks for that information. I have also not gotten any verification on whether or not it is back open so we are going to stick with Cochran

so just ignore the J@#Ps but here is a video or gila river loop

I was getting an itch to go off road as we all get from time to time and while I was looking up videos of Gila River loop I did see that there was a video from last year about the coke ovens and come to find out they are on BLM land now and can get there and see them up close and personal but @DSRTRDR you are absolutely right that trail to get out to them is a LOT harder than I want for a Classic Cruize. So Thank You for that information. The Coke Ovens isn't what the CC is about in my mind. The Classic Cruize is about getting these classic trucks out in the dirt and dust and stretching their legs so to speak, and in my honest opinion getting them home in one piece and not destroyed. The CO trail looks like it has the potential to cause some carnage.

I am trying to start getting the trail run-event stickers sorted out and trying to use chatgpt and this kind of what it came up with

Let me know what you guys think, also if there is anyone who can help design the sticker that would be great

with the advent of MLK day this month and presidents day next month I am thinking about doing a pre-run for this

to clarify:

the hard part of the trail is approaching the coke ovens from the north - going to the Gila River from the south (turning off from Florence-Kelvin Road) is by wide desert sand washes and maybe some whoop-di-doo eroded-by-ATVs trails - which would be entirely doable for the Classic Cruise crowd: approach from the south, enjoy nice scenery and varying terrain, possible lunch picnic by the water, find another agreeable trail out towards the south

crossing the river is entirely dependent on Gila River flow levels - best to be checked in advance with SRP's site on their river/reservoir flow management

So I just sent off my idea for the commemorative stickers to a Cruiser owner who has a print shop I just need a rough idea of how many to order from him.

Ah, this why vector.
Exactly that and I am getting podcast stickers to hand out. And pretty soon I am going to be doing the calendar again some are going to used as raffle items for SAS 10

So we bought a 93 4Runner 4wd for my son to use to get him back and forth from high school. It had 4 really bad none matching tires. So we got 4 new all terrain tires. Once I get the timing belt sorted out that one will be ready to go to the Classic Cruize next month. The stickers are at the printer as we speak. The 40 is just about ready to go. It will be a shake down run for me to get ready for SAS this summer up in Ouray. I am getting excited about this.

Is there room for a 1970 fj40 with a "not so inline 6" engine. Trying to read through the description posts to find a line in the sand for inclusion or exclusion.
Don't want to spoil the CC feel but thought I would ask either way...

Absolutely you are welcome to come. My son is going to come as well in his new to him 93 4Runner. If it is a pre 96 Toyota 4*4 it qualifies.

My son just asked and I will relay his question and the answer. Does it cost to participate in the Classic Cruize. NO it is show up and have fun.
