Now that I have Uma up and running and getting the bugs worked out, and it seems as if I am looking for a Classic Cruize to happen I need to plan it my self. I don't have any dates sorted out as of right now but was thinking March or April before it gets crazy hot. Just looking at On X possibly Gila River Loop/ Cochran/ WhoopDeDo near the Florence Kelvin highway south of Box canyon. Although I didn't see a good place to meet up for final staging. I am open to suggestions for dates and locations. But hopefully mid March/early April.

AS AN UPDATE DATE TIME AND LOCATION FINALIZED

SATURDAY MARCH 21 9:00 AM FLORENCE MCDONALD'S ADJACENT LOT.

We are doing Cochran Gila river south loop unless I have confirmation that the coke ovens trail is open. I did some research last night and couldn't find any confirmation that the coke ovens has been reopened. The only thing I saw was that the BLM had repurched the land from the private owner but that was speculation on Facebook.

So I think that this the loop that we can with out causing too much damage to the vehicles. The Cochran/Gila river south loop. we can meet at the McDonalds in Florence and head down to Butte road and out to Cochran on the Florence Kelvin highway and do the "loop" clockwise. On X has it at a 5 for being a " rutted dirt trail with loose rocks, sand, erosion and washes. There are potential water crossings up to 18 inches deep, mud holes, and obstacles up to 2 feet, including ledges and short, steep grades."

I think the bezel police are in order......

Now I just need to figure out a date for it.

I’d be interested

Which one works best for everyone 3-21 or 3-28, both are Saturdays, and March shouldn't be too hot.

If I have to choose, I say March 21st.
But either date is open for me right now.
I am going to block them both out so my wife does not schedule something.

Opportunities for camping?

I am not going to limit camping, but just from what I have seen is there isn't very much as far a ground cover until we get closer to the Gila river, but that has never stopped @Stepmurr . It sounds like it is going to happen from the 2 votes so far from @muttsinapig and @brices123 that the 21st is the day that it is going to happen. Although I do have a 3 day weekend the week before and the week after. I think that the 21st is a good weekend because it still tends to be really pleasant weather wise. I would love to have a truck mounted GMRS by that time but I don't know at this time. I do have a hand held so I think coms will be through GMRS. I got rid of my cb last winter because I couldn't hear anything out of it anyway.

Part of me says that any Toyota 4x4 89 and older (including pick-ups and 4 runners) but on my podcast thread in the 40's and 55's tech section i had a somewhat heated debate a while ago as to what a "classic" Land Cruiser consisted of. There the general consensus was any Toyota that originally had an inline 6 and solid front axle was a classic now. That would include the 80/lx450. So do we do 89 & older, pre OBD II, or inline 6 with a solid front axle?🤔 In classic cruize 4 @DSRTRDR's partner came along in their 80 to make sure that we didn't go off track which we did a couple of times 😜. Also if 80's are aloud to come then @cruzer971 won't have an excuse that the motor in his 40 is till on the frits. I am going to say 40's, 55's, 60's, 70's and 80's, plus any other pre-OBD II Toyota 4x4 to include pickups and 4Runners. OBD II started in 96 so it is now 95 and older.

As I am writing this I am thinking of who else I can name drop.

Just because the trail is in red doesn't mean it is a HARD trail that is just the color that On X made it as i was plotting the way points. there are so many waypoints because i thought it was like google where it would only go in a straight line until I moved it. Not until about half way through did I realize that On X would put the way points on the trail
